I'm getting ready to put a new front bulkhead on my slash bl2s and I have only done simple rc mechanics. Does anyone have tips on working on this job? Like take pictures before you take it apart an things like that..

Use some kind if divided container to keep screws organized. These 4 go to this...these 2 go to this etc. Put in order that they came out so its the reverse to go back together.
It's a fairly straight forward job, you should be fine.

Clean out those hex heads before you try to takes them out. Hit them with a small wire brush to knock the dirt and rust out.
You want your hex tools to have as much to bite on to as possible.

Take pics of how it used to look. You'll never see it like that again.
Lay everything out in the order as it was removed. Then pile all the parts together in a bowl and shake well! Get them off the table. Its time for lunch!

Don't overthink this! RC is supposed to be fun!

Do you have an exploded view diagram of the front end?
That should help to relieve some stress by letting you understand the construction before you start the job.

The only difference is yours jas a skid plate with a few more screws.

Take pictures, use cardboard to push the screw and pins in you could draw and write where they were from.

Edit - even draw and trace the front end on the cardboard for placement.

Open the manual (whether it be the printed copy or the online copy) and send it. You’ll learn something, have fun doing it, and when it’s all over you’ll realize it was super easy.

don't over tighten the screws and strip out the plastic. just needs to be tight, not drilled in there.

what you are about to do is probably the easiest thing someone can do to an RC car. consult the manual if needed. use common sense. you got this. you're over thinking it, its way easier than you're making it.

If you get in a predicament, look at pictures/measure the screws.
With a manual and/or exploded views... you got this!
After taking a second look at your picture, @CertifiedMike is right... pick the dirt out of those screws before you start "wrenching".
Good luck with them e-clips. Keep an eye on them

Nows a good time to order some M3 fasteners from Amazon. They sell kits for your model. Or get generic counter sunk and socket heads.

Don't phsyc yourself out, its a pretty easy task even. Take your time use snack bags and label them for screw and parts. After you complete this task, buy yourself a kit and assemble it yourself. It will give you a much better understanding on how things work. Not mention the satisfaction of completing the kit.

Before any attempt at working on RC's, or even 1:1 rigs, get yourself a couple of delicious donuts, and brew up some killer coffee. Now your ready to start your project

We have different ritual....I see what yer getting at though...coffee is definitely in there,lol

If you want metal. Just make sure it resemble yours. Never knew of a difference.

i wouldn't run an aluminum bulkhead. its stronger yes, but has no flex. you'll bend the hell out of the hinge pins and snap more suspension arms with one. possibly even snap the chassis.
ether run a stock plastic part, or run the RPM plastic part.
