Crap! You got me Joe!!! It's the last run counts rule. My last run was 37 laps, yours was 38. I knew I should've quit after my second run!

God job Joe!

Edit: I'm too slow here too!

DNF? I just finished my 3rd attempt like literally 15 seconds before this post. I raced my ass off and I think I pulled it off :) gotta go take a look see...

yeah, I was in progress when Joe was looking at the times.

Yes! yes yes yes damnit! I wonder if Jeff has the guts to use his third run???? I took a gamble this week and it's lookin' good so far :D woot woot!

dude, you guys always make your final runs at midnight and poop. No way I'm staying up that late on a Sunday. Not sure if I could have trimmed that 1 second off my run. Had a few issues with traffic. And worked my ass off to try to tune the car to run the whole 5 minutes without pitting and just couldn't do it. My best full tank was 4:15. So good run Josh. definitely a good win.

Thanks Jeff. I can't believe you're getting that good of fuel mileage. I can barely make it to 4 minutes on my setup. As far as the time I run.. Yeah, I tend to run later on Sunday after the kids are down and I get bored with t.v. Next season will be "one and done" so there won't be any check-backing to compare times. We'll all get one real shot at it. That's more fair anyways I figure.

I do have to say that I'm very very impressed by the level of competition right now in our club. Everybody is pretty darn close and Joe is picking this up like riding a bicycle. It has gotten me thinking about my concept for next season and how to keep honest competition alive while also bringing slower fellas within reasonable reach of their closest competition. I think if I round the handicap time up (or down) to the nearest tenth of a second (I'll have to fiddle with the actual amount, hundreth, tenth, quarter etc. over the winter) that will nearly eliminate the handicap alltogether when the real times get close. Just a thought.

Awesome! Josh making more runs and knocking Jeff to 2nd is as good as me running and possibly moving up to 2nd behind Jeff.

The whole last run counts thing and the fact I got bit by it earlier in the season preventing me from putting in a 3rd run.

Thankfully there is only 1 more speedway left this season.

I like the one and done.

It is how all race events are done anyway.

On the oval yes, I really like the oval a lot, and I am really starting to get the hang of it. I made a few mistakes myself last night that should and could have been avoided by trying to cut some time off my laps when I should have just been concerned with being consistant. However on the road courses I look like I am driving under the influence, lol. I am sooo bad on the road courses it's embarassing.

I would like the oval if the AI's were a tad bit faster. Getting around them is a PITA.

They can definitely be frustrating at times. I try and time my warm up laps so that when it starts counting laps I am away from them, at least for a little while anyway.

I try to do the same thing on all the tracks.

Round 12

8/25/2009

Back in the saddle.

In what may be the closest win margin in two seasons of competition, Lessen has come back to the top to win Round 12 at RC Speedway. Recent history has shown that Candyman is the man to beat at the oval circuit but Lessen was obviously out to prove that he still has what it takes to be competitive. For the first time this season Lessen used his third and final run to attempt to topple Candy's very respective time this weekend. The result - how about 7 tenths of a second? A look at the timesheet shows where the win was had... every single lap. With only two laps breaking the 7 second threshold Lessen knew the only thing that would score the W would be consistantly clean laps and he delivered. As always, Candyman manages to squeeze extremely quick times out of his Serpent 710 with the fastest lap of the race at 7.652 but with times of 8.056, 11.428 and 9.048, the door was left open for Lessen to sneak in. Lessen averaged a very nice 7.182 laptime but the most extraordinary number this week is his consistancy - 98.29%. Even he was surprised by that number. "After the run I knew the consistancy would be high, but that's just a crazy number. I saved the car from spinning quite a few times coming off of two so that really helped to keep my race clean. I could have blown this race on any number of laps but I was pretty fortunate this week." The win also brings Lessen one step higher in the points standings as he leapfrogs over Racer to secure the 3rd spot this week. Our points leader Robmob puts in yet another solid performance, just slighly behind the leaders and NCnitro brings home the 4th spot after a bad 3rd run gamble by Racer. All in all, a very close race this week at the oval. That leaves only one oval race this season, the finale. Be prepared gentlemen. The VRCNT 1500 is nothing to sneeze at. Possibly the most demanding race of the season is most suitably the last and only handful of weeks away.

Mock qualifying for 2010 is setup for this weekend. Since the race is at Kakegawa I went ahead and scheduled the qualifying test for the same track.

No sir. All of the qualifying thru the remainder of the season will be used to sort out numbers for next years format. However, I will be using the mock qualifying in conjunction with the actual race times of the same weekend. So it doesn't affect anything except that it gives me a handful of realistic outcomes to set different variables to so I can come up with something that seems fair.

I honestly don't know if I am even going to race this weekend. I am not having any luck getting around the road courses at all, especially this one with the grass. My lap times are in the upper 30s low 40s, and I have been trying since the end of the last race to get something that will work. I just aint enjoying it like I enjoy the oval races, it just frustrates me badly, and I do not need any more frustration in my life right now.
