Which Radio Would You Choose And Why?
Between The Futaba 3pv & Sanwa MT-R

off road 10th scale buggy is the class
main application is parking lot ripping and off road occasional racing.

any insight on your choice would help greatly

I would go with the sanwa. I think the sanwa would have more options than the futaba 3pv. The futaba 4pm would be more comparable to the sanwa mt r. If you want to spend less money then the 3pv would be good just for parking lot ripping and getting started racing. If you get into the more competitive side of racing I would get the 4pm or MT-R. Or even better with the 7PX or the M-17.

I choose the Futaba 3PV.

You didn't say what your budget is buggyboi, but based on how you say you will use the radio, thinking Fut is the better value. It comes in a half the price of the Sanwa. An extra receiver for the Sanwa comes in at a pricey $109. The Futaba is less pricey at $49. Something to think about if one is going to expand radio use to multiple models.

Both radios have all the features a parking lot racer should need. As well as sufficient features for local and regional level competition events. I do like the anti-lock brake feature (aka ALB) on the Sanwa. The MX-5 Sanwa I once used had that feature and found it useful for slowing after a speed run. Not sure it's worth having for twice the price over the Futaba.

Both radios are quality products made by long-time surface radio makers. Futaba has always been a bit fiddly to work through all the settings. That said, it's one of the two standard make radios in my stable now.

Hope this helps the decision-making process. Good luck. Cheers. 'AC'

True. If he has multiple cars like for example if he has 4 cars he would have about 430 dollars in receivers. Vs with the futaba it would be 200 dollars in receivers. But if you only have 1 car to hook up that rx to then the sanwa would be fine. Another radio I would recommend is the futaba 4pm. Still less expensive than the sanwa and it is more comparable to the sanwa. It all depends on what your budget is.

Either will be a good radio, but I started out with Futaba in '86, and had a few of their radios over the years. They have always been bulletproof.

For bashing radiolink is my favorite. A lot of options, cheap receivers, gyro, exceptional range.

For racing I use futaba 3pv. Good radio, good feel, fast, reasonably priced receivers

Thank dudes.

I went with the 4pm.
You guys gave me a lot to think about.
