radio compatability

hi all need bit of advice bout radio gear bought my son a nitro car for xmas crashed the thing fixed other bits that were broken now receiver playing up i am going to buy 1 but not sure if my radio will work with any 2 channel receiver my controler is a 2 channel great vigor any advice at all about the radio will be a great help thank you

What vehicle did you buy? That would help us know what will fit. Radio's aren't typically universal. You have to have a receiver that works the same way as the transmitter, as far as frequency range, band width and band type. Some receivers are interchangeable though as they are designed to work with more than one manufacturers transmitter.

After googling it for awhile, it appears to be an XTM equivalent. It looks a lot like an XTM xterminator. And the sites have similar parts for a Mammoth.

That one has a two stick radio that I don't see many of here in the states... those are for kids tyco toys, airplanes and helicopters. Even tyco uses a pistol type radio for most of their stuff now.

I wouldn't even be able to begin to know where to look for a receiver/transmitter for you. Is there a logo sticker on the receiver or transmitter that has a brand name/model number?

I would suspect you can buy a compatible receiver pretty easily as long as you keep 2 things in mind. Make sure you buy the proper modulation (AM vs. FM) and make sure it's the proper band. I'm not sure what is most common in Scotland. Is it 35 MHz? That's the key. If you know those 2 things, finding a receiver that works will be simple.

To probe a bit more, what is the car doing that leads you to believe it's the receiver?

it only works when I'm standing near it and everything seems to jerk around when i am not moving the thing i dont have prob buying receiver just dont wanna buy it find out somthing else wrong thank you for your time:duff:

and yes candyman thats the very car only difference is that on my receiver box that holds the receiver says on it 4 channel 27.145 dont quite understnd why it says it on it as i do know its a 2 channel receiver am 2channel receiver gvr-27 says on the actuall receiver
