Questions About A Stampede

Hey guys, Well my brother wants to get a truck and hes a bit intimidated by nitro engines and all so he wants to get a Stampede. From what I've seen they seem to be pretty great trucks.

I was wondering a few things...

1. Any problems they are prone to?

2. What would be a good engine upgrade / other hopups for speed and acceleration

3. What batteries and charger are needed and how much is that going to cost.

4. Can someone explain what an ESC is?

thanks.. I'm trying to learn a bit about these because I've never driven an electric car so I have no experience and I know hes going to ask me when :alarm: stuff goes wrong.

They are durable,fun trucks for anyone! There are plenty of hop-ups for them, one of the 1st things to get is a RPM front bumper, it will save you some broken parts in crashes!
Honestly the best place to look and read info on these trucks is on www.traxxas.com there are a ton of people who run these trucks.

1. no "problems" with the truck

2. With the new XL5, its a quick truck stock

3. gte a good set of batteries,dont skimp here. GP and IB are good cells, get at least a 3300 pack(s). Everyone will say a different charger. The "new" MRC 960 is a good charger to start with. Just make sure its not a timed charger, you want a peak decection one. Cost? Charger around $50ish, packs anywhere from $25-$$$$$

4. Electronic Speed Control It controls the ele motor, runs your servos, is where your battery plugs in.

The stampede is a great truck. My father just bought one for himself and he loves it! It is a fast truck out of the box and is durable and fun to drive. I think it is a great truck to bash around with wether your new to RC or a seasoned veteran.
