pull start ?

pulled the pull start to hard it wont retract is this fixable if so can anyone send me a link to fix it

the spring in the pull start came out. Tore apart my hand trying to get it back, got too frustrated so give up on it for the day. If some one can please help me it would be much apprecaited. Didnt even get 1 tank through the break in.

What engine is in it? You could consider getting a roto start system for it. Or just try resetting the pull start a different way. Try spooling up the spring in your fingers, getting it nice and tight, then working it into the housing. That's how I do mine, till I get a roto start back plate.

Thats what I've been trying to do and how i cut cut up my fingers, it seems impossible to get back in,

Did you try grabbing the whole coiled up coil with a pair of needle nose pliers? When it's all coiled up it's smaller than the housing, so it's easier to fit in. Then release it a bit at a time.

thats why it is always good to have spares.!!! I havent had to do this yet but then again i have a few that need to be done..

In some situations where you do this to your pull start and it gets stuck try manipulating the flywheel to get it back in and once its in pull it lightly multiple times. If you find it had to roll the flywheel in reverse pull the glow plug. In most cases this will get the pull start to retract. I know its too late in this case. As far as getting the spring steel back in it can be difficult but its not impossible.

Thanks for the help waiting for the cuts on my fingers to close up them I'm going to try again. Too use the spin start do i need to put the spring back in our does it not require a spring.

You probably pulled it more than it should be pulled. That can break the spring. You would want to get a new one.

The springs not broken I know this and I wanna know if I need the spring to use the spin start not the pull start, my truck has a spin/pull start combo.

Probably not. Try starting the car and see if it works.

I take that back I called just to see what all I needed back in to use the spin start and there sending me a whole new pul/spin start combo for free. Just need to Pay the import taxes which I would have to pay even if I bought it.
