pull start, all you need a a glow starter and you are all set with the ez start or roto start you have to carry heavy stuff that slows you down when you are running to your truck
 
i hate pullstarts personally. i use starterbox's and a rotostart. if its tuned right, you should never have to run out to restart it unless you run it empty.

i agree...I wouldnt trade my pull start for a roto. :hammer:
 
i guess it also depends on what your doing with it. I'm a racer, so i have all my gear with me anyway. a basher may not want to haul all that with them every time.
 
I'm also a Roto start fan/user.. Pullstarts have been nothing but probs for me.. Maybe if they didnt make them with a pop can thick steel spring in it, wrapped with kite string, they wouldnt be such chit. But yeah, the Roto start hasnt let me down yet.

LMAO!! thats funny chit right there!!!!. All roto start did for me was break one way bearings. I switched to pullstart...no more problems since. :2cents:
 
I started out with rotostart and two engines later I'm loving the pullstart. Much more freedom with less crap to lug, less batteries to worry about, and less one way bearings to replace.

I will never go back to a rotostart again!
 
I don't have a choice. My car is a nonpull version. I gotta have a starter box and I wouldn't have it any other way! Nothing worse than an engine that needs to get tuned and you're stuck there yanking away in the middle of a hot and humid summer day. yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!
 
exactly diver. just throw it on the box with the ignitor attached and twist the needles till it fires up. once its fired, tuning it in is easy. its the same way with a rotostart, just crank it over and adjust the needles till it fires. although this situation only happens with new engines and very drastic weather changes, it still saves headaches, and blistered hands.
 
ok for the Non pullstart users, this has been eating me away. If you have a flooded engine what do you do?The one thing I have noticed is the rotostart users tend to break gears and one ways due to over cranking the mill when flooded. Whats your views?
 
I take the plug out and turn her for all she's worth with a rag over the cooling head to clear the engine. I guess it's easier for us onroaders since we don't have a oneway to burn out while starting. The engine will hydrolock before anything else.

how do you expel the fuel? Do you just wait patiently till most of it comes out?
 
well, first I turn it upside down and give it a shake. Then with the plug out, press it down on the starting wheel. It'll turn with no effort and the extra fuel will get spit out. That's why there has to be a rag on top of the cooling head.

Gotcha , I did that with my ole NTC3 but I thought there was a better tip for doing it upside down.

If you're doing it upside down with a starter box ... you must have some pretty big hands and a good grip! :rolleyes:

pullstart all the way. i broke the spring in the first one (never had a nitro) fixed it and added some cool 3 ply pink nylon cord. the 2nd one i have needs a a new cord ahven't gotten around to it as of yet. and i just bought a 3rd pullstart just in case, cause the springs are flimsy always good to have extras. i have 3 extra spur gears as well..

extras extras extras to keep me bashing bashing and more bashing.

now i just need some money for some fuel man this k46 drinks it up like a 1972 cadillac.
 
Well screw those pull starts I broke two already and always the same thite: the spring that failed.
Once you open them it's IMPOSSIBLE to rebuild, the bloody spring keeps popping out and seeking thee holy eyez... seems like this thing was made for it.

I'm getting a start box, no more crap!
