I've got a Rhino 2250 3 cell 11.1 25c.
Since I have very little knowledge of Lipo batts, I don't know if I want to charge it. It feels like it's been filled with 30PSI of air pressure.
It's never been run through a full cycle, only a test for one of the helis.

What do you think?

the picture looks like it is off the hobbyking website

Thats the advertisers pic. If its puffed much then yeah get rid of it, no point in taking the chance. Just one of those things that happens from time to time a pack will swell. A Turnigy 5000 3s I ran in my SC just puffed on me a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't use a puffed pack. You will be risking your gear. Discharge and dispose

I hear zippy lipos are a no no..... is that true? I've got a rev-tech on a trade and it too is puffed. Ran it 3 time with no problem but will be tossing in now that my other spc came in.

zippy lipos are fine.

The majority of cheap chinese packs these days are fine, most are exactly the same just relabled.

Only brand you should stay away from is Max Amps. Dont waste your money. They are extremely over priced and they have lied for years about their products.

I've heard this so much, mainly that the lie about their c ratings. I subscribe to rc driver, and that's pretty much the only packs that they use for testing. Why does an rc magazine pretty much endorse a company that lies to consumers?
I know the answer is either they get paid to, or they get the packs free. But I bet there's lots of other manufacturers out there that would do this as well that are more reputable.

If they overfilled it, just take a 1" nail and relieve some pressure. The pressure relief port should be right under the check mark.

My first packes were reedy 4s 5500 60 at $200 a piece then I switched to the cheapies. I've only puffed nano-techs. I have nano-techs, zippy, zippy compact, and gensacearespammers. My gensacearespammers and zippy compact are my favorite.

If you had a lipo charger that measures IR of the cells Id say cycle it and see what the ohm reading is of the various cells and see if the swelling goes down. If its puffed theres going to be some damage done to the cells but as long as the IR on the cells isnt over 80-100 or so and it firms back up you could keep using it for testing purposes but I wouldnt use it as an everyday battery in something that mattered.

hey rolex get the measurements of what the pack should be then use some calipers. since I got my calipers I measured all my packs and marked them, so I can watch for puffing.

Strange lighting with the new desklight bulb, but I wasn't going to set up anything just for these shots.

The light reflection gives you an indication of the puffage.

Due to the lighting, it's not showing on the right, but that side is the same as what you see on the left.
