I went to a 2wd only race a couple weeks, but I didn't have a 2wd to race. So I converted my 410sl to rwd only, spent 3 days testing and adjusting the setup. It did ok but was to front heavy. I thought about getting a Pro Star chassis but someone at the races suggested I try and make it fwd, so I did. I even raced it yesterday. It's super easy yo drive but has trouble actually putting the power down. It lights the front tires up immediately, especially out of a tight turn. I let one of the faster drivers take it out and he showed how fast it could actually go, need to carry a lot of corner speed. I've pushed the battery forward, taken out the rear toe, removed as much kick up(through the A and B block) as I can. Added 25 grams to the front and have 2 million in the ctr and 20k in the front diff. The other driver who drove it suggested locking the ctr diff and going up a lot more on the front diff. He actually got a kick out of driving it. I got some silicone ear plugs to put in the ctr diff and I'll bump up the front, maybe 200k. Any other suggestions? I must admit this has been a fun project so far, quite a few drivers have taken notice of my little project.

No, it’s not a high traction track yet. It will probably grove up some later in the season. I had take the turns wide and carry as much speed as possible.

What the...?! What do they have against 4wd on a dirt track? 😁

That track looks like its ready for 1:1 racing!! 🤣
No 4x4??? Silliness! 🙄

Interesting project!😎

I remember a flash of FWD race buggies years ago. A bunch of custom chassis makers and the Kyosho Maxxum FF before the class got shut down.
I wanted one!!! 😍

That almost looks like Pit Stop. 🤔 I haven't been there in ages.

FWD sounds very interesting. Thinkin of doing some FWD builds myself. Do you think that you could get more speed out of a FWD than RWD?

Also, some pics of your build would be cool. 😁
Right now fighting getting the power to the ground. 2 million in the ctr diff wasn't enough, the power was bleeding off. I just put some silicone ear plugs in the ctr diff to try. If it makes a difference I'll probably try a spool next. I'm also going to try going heavier in the front diff.

Do you have gobs of off power steering? I'm interested in what you find using a thicker diff fluid in the front.

I’ve only been able to test running up and down my lane at the moment. But adding the silicone earplugs helped a lot with putting the power down. I was bleeding off to much power before. I had plenty of steering at the track with 20k in the front diff. I just put 200k in the front diff, I’ll have to wait till I can get to a track and try it out.

Finally spent some more time with this sct. First I added a full spool in the ctr. At best, this was a slight improvement from the silicone ear plugs in the ctr diff. Then I went up a couple teeth on the pinion. It helped on pavement but not really on the dirt track. Was still ballooning the front tires and loosing too much traction. Next I tried gluing the foams to the rim, didn’t help. Finally I glued the foams to the rims and the inside of the tires to the foams. This has actually helped a lot, looking forward to trying it another race. But I still can’t clear a double out of a turn, too much wheel spin taking off. On a side note, it’s hard on front tires. 😆
