I'm new to RC hobby world but i did love when i was a teenager. i jsut got a my traxxas Slash 2wd XL i want upgrade it for Carpet racing can anyone help me?

i want to know know what is the best motor and ESC combo for Carpet Racing and best gear combo for my Salsh 2wd XL

Def need to head to your local track to find out rules for a 'Slash only' or which ever 2wd class you're interested in running.

You can build the fastest Slash on the planet. If it doesn't pass inspection, you can't race so you can't win! 🙁

Find the rules you need to follow and I'm positive ppl here can help. 👍😎😁

With the LCG kit and the hot ticketed proper tires, you'll be well on your way to those practice sessions to learn roll control. That's just for starters. Diff fluid, shock oil, servo, sensored motor/ESC, radio, sway bars, etc., etc., etc., can be dealt with later as skill, knowledge, and competitive nature sets in. If the track is doing a spec class Slash thing, then maybe hold off on a LCG upgrade and tires.

I haven't raced in a long time but showing up to a new track for the first time; with the wrong tires, is not fun. Find out beforehand what the rules/classes are, and what tires are being used at the track. This will make for a successful/productive enjoyable first timer visit.

Not knowing what your expectations are for the Slash, but I'm sure you'll get the "taking a knife to a gun fight" remarks somewhere along the line if the setting is right. Yes, trying to run a stock Slash with a pack of the latest and greatest SCT platforms available will be an uphill battle. There, I said it. Hopefully, the dudes at the track aren't jerks with noses in air, and/or the track has a "run whatcha brung" class for those just getting into racing.

Issue with a lot of tracks and "racers" is people feel like the only way you can have fun is if you win or have a chance at winning. Racing a slash to win in a field of Losi's or Tekno's is an excersize in defeat... But, as someone who farted around with a rustler 2wd on a carpet track, its not any less fun than my Tekno EB410.2 was. Did i win? No... but, i never won with the Tekno either. 😂

If he has issues with the folks at his local track being snobby about someone bringing what they already have and/or can afford to their track to spend money and keep it alive, that track doesn't deserve to be supported IMHO.

When you stop racing to win and start racing to race is when you actually start to get it.

Winning is great and sure is the goal but if you pass up all the learning, fun and experience along the way, why bother?

I never won all that much but I STILL love racing after DECADES afterwards.

My bad ass antique cars and my memories are all thats left. (I found a 2nd place plaque I think too.) I think it was worth every cent and every second spent.

Not a day goes by when I am upset that I didn't get a chance to beat that last car so I could have been first. I am just happy I was there. ❤️😁😎

Best part is give OP a year of racing a slash and he'll know more about setting a car up than half the people at his club who just started with a racing platform. When he finally does splurge on that Tekno, it'll be a weapon on that track. 🤪

Hopefully he sticks around on the forum and we can see his progress.

I forgot to mention....

EVERY SINGLE RACER AT THAT TRACK WAS A NOOB ONCE TOO!!!

Shame on them if they let their heads get too big to remember that!!!

There are beginner and box-stock classes for a reason. There IS a place for EVERYONE at an RC track!!!

Learning tuning is HUGE!!!

I hope we see a racing thread started soon!!! 😎

I run my old slash bodies on my tekno SCT just to be annoying 🤣

People ask if it's really a slash, say it's a really fast slash, or they are tekno guys and they roll their eyes.
