Very untrue. They are very repeatable and accurate. HP is a simple calculation. I can lay runs over each other. And in the full scale world they are used all the time.

You guys are actually fooled that companies have dynos. I can list the amount of them that do. Also our numbers are HALF of what the "claimed" hp is so how is that exaggerated hp? Our runs are directly comparable to each other and from testing on the dyno and real world (where it matters) I can even tell how the engine/pipe combo will run on the track.

Like I said anytime somebody is in the area and want to see how crappy of a dyno we have and how it works...address is in the mag.

Speaking of Dyno numbers... I was always curious what the OS 21 RG puts out. I know OS has a tendency to low ball their numbers (1.8hp for the RG).

Have you guys ever run a OS 21 RG through your dyno? If so, do you have the graph and/or HP numbers for it?

This is a reference to the dyno you use right?: http://www.nitrodynesystems.com/Engine Database.htm

Thanks.

Crappy? I think I said least accurate. Derek didn't mean to ruffle your feathers and I didn't say you where wrong. I just think you need to do a little more research. You might want to rethink your real world comment . Correcting,Simulating,Calculating and even guessing . Real world?? At the track is Real world! And for what it's worth I like your mag

The guy who designed the dyno has done years of research in motocross working for Factory Race teams. I tend to beleive the guy who made a living at using dynos and real world experience.

I am sorry if I come off defensive, but I can't understand how people can make comments about it and they mislead people to think our information is not correct.

Like I said before our data we get from the dyno is tested on the track. Another story we just did a dyno test with Drake and his new engine. We were doing a few runs and he tells me Greg Degani swears the PICCO puts out more power with an OS P3. We install the plug and see that difference on the very next pull. From 1.47 to a 1.56 from a change of a plug.

On the track conditions very so much that it's not that accurate. But that is where they matter. Any tool that can prove something in 12 seconds is pretty accurate and relaible. Not to mention the interia design doesn't damage the engine like a load based one.

Have you ran a ws711 and a rbC5BB on your dyno?If so what # did you come up with.

We've run the current V-Spec and I'll have to check on the RB, which we've run.

I'd be interested in seeing how different engines compair with others.

DerekB,

Yeah man if you've got graphs compairing different engines by all means post them. I know I'd love to see them and I'm sure many others would as well.

3 article ideas for you Derek:

Month 1: Top shelf stock & mod motor dyno cage match

Month 2: Engines mere mortals can afford dyno cage match

Month 3: horsepower per dollar comparison of previous 2 months, to determine which engine is the best for the money.

Let me know if you do it, I will subscribe.

Actually all of your article ideas can be answered by subscribing. Since we dyno every engine that comes in an RTR and those we get individually you can look up and compare.

Month 1 was already sort of done where we tested TNT mods. In the same article you can see a stock LRP/PICCO engine produce way more power :)

Month 2 is done every month.

Month 3 is also you just have to do the math.

All great ideas but if I have to commit to 3 months worth of special order articles for 1 subscription I'm in trouble.

So how about you subscribe, enjoy the free fuel bottle and get all those answers.

I'm not 100% sure about how the fuel bottle offer works on line. But after you subscribe call the number and ask them about it or just use it to subscribe and mention the offer in the magazine. 1.800.406.4288

I was pretty sure that my one subscription wouldn't be the deciding factor, I think the articles would be good reading for just about all enthusiasts.

I will buy the back or future issues if you can tell me which ones dyno the OS RG, Sportwerks .26, OS V-Spec, Novarossi/Top/Rex P5 X, RB Concept C5, and maybe some of the JP modified versions as well.

I was looking for a purely scientific comparision (dyno) instead of the same old person X saying they think its better because they paid for it, and need to justify their purchase.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the ideas I gave you were what I thought a large target audience would appreciate. I was not just expecting you to shape the entire magazine just because I alone would have found that useful.

We'll be periodically putting an "archieves" section in the magazine so you can see all the engines tested.

Cool, when I hear word from others that one of those issues comes out, I will pick it up.
