HAHA SAVAGE SUCK!!! Lol just kidding but I got some justice hearing that Joey. Everyone says they are INDESCTRUCTABLE, HA!

Anywho that sucks man, there is nothign worse then getting a rig and breaking it within an hour...

This is the mini Savage....I will still put my full sized Savage in a demo derby with any Traxxas product.:D

Glad i got the slash instead. I know the savage is the toughest truck out there but it sounds like they didnt work hard enough on the drivetrain in this one. Sorry for your luck tho Joey

Yeah that is what I was thinking wolf. Ok pulled apart and back together...it was the pinion on the motor had backed out. Not sure if it was locktited or not. By god it is now!! So I will give it another try tomorrow. I am going to toss the ESC on the computer and see if i can tune the sucker up a bit. I really do not like the hesitation it has. Typically I would blame it on the battery but it runs the Slash and my CC 7700 just fine so I am not sure what is going on. I will have to say this one is a fail for HPI.

Everthing I've read on the mini savage says they are really tough. The main problem everyone seems to have is eventually smoking the ESC. Thats the main complaint I've read.

Well damn Joe, I hate to hear about all the issues buddy. I'm sure HPI will take care of you, as they always have with me, but it's still aggravating to say the least.

So far I have fixed both problem it is just kinda beat the ting broke so fast. On another note....the thing is fast but handles like crap. Steering servo will be a snap to change out though it is not the greatest as many have said. Under the hood is CC ESC and 4000kvA motor. Once everything is going correctly it should be a little missile. Any votes for dropping an 6000mah 3s in it?

The steering servo was the other issue I had read about. Some may call it sacrilege, but the Traxxas servos that come in the pede are ball bearing, waterproof, put out 125 oz of tq, and can be had for $18 at value rc on ebay (one of my go to shops). I've had zero issues out of mine in over two years, including snow and mud running.

Without knowing the ESC specs, I dunno, I don't want to see your ESC go poof. But hey, if it's rated for it, hells yeah I want to see it.

I never ran any less than 6s in my flux hp and all I managed to do was break a drive cup brnd a shaft and crack ( still useable) a lower a arm hitting a curb dead center at 50+. The shaft and drive cup broke on a triple standing backflip

Yeah I have a FLUX HP as well(in storage) This is the mini flux I am going to plug in the ESC and see what the Castle software see it as.
**It shows up as a Vapor Pro but all the wires on it and the box for the truck all say Castle Creation

Transmission back in. Pinion locktited real good this time....is it me or does that motor look damn big for the size of the truck?

It's not sacralige to put Traxxas servos in a Savage I have the wp 2056 as throttle and brake servo in my XL. HPI servos are pretty crappy both of mine died within a month. I have a Savox 1256 TG for my steering. A good part is a good part no matter who makes it. Nice truck Joey I'm sure it will be a blast once all the bugs get worked out. Maybe it was built on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning. LOL

Sick lookin under the lid, wow. ^^That savox 1256tg is an awesome servo, I have ran 3 in diff cralwers, and jeez do they respond to anything, good power too without having to run an external bec on electrics(Not sure if people use a bec on nitro).

I found mine on ebay for about 85 bucks shipped. I wanted something that could handle turning the big Terra Pins on my XL and the HPI SF 50 just wasn't cutting it, plus it died about a week after I got the truck then the SF 10 died about two weeks after that. I already had the Traxxas wp 2650 so I put it in with the intentions of it just being a temporary fix but it has served me well so far and as the old saying goes if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. HPI makes great trucks but their servos are junk.
