I just recently got a os-vzb for my kyosho 7.5 I went to put the clutch and everything on, and relized that the flywheel is a hair too big, and is rubbing against the idle adjust screw. Is there a smaller flywheel I'm suppose to use? Or is there a completely diffrent setup for this motor on this car? Thanks all.

Duh, how stupid of me, THANK YOU !!! "olds 98" That would easily take care of the problem. Sometimes I just automatically think I have too buy something new instead of thinking outside the box. LOL

Shim behind the flywheel, that's why they include them in the kit.

I've never thought about that... I always thought the shims were more to allow you to shim the flywheel to help with nut alignment on the crankshaft or for aligning it with a starter wheel. Never really thought about it I guess.

Well, I should be more specific, the larger shims should go under the flywheel, it will give you the clearance fromt he carb and more or less better alignment between the spur and clutchbell. The smaller shims that will still fit over the crank but cover a smaller area would go between the flywheel and nut for spring alignment. The thing to consider is that by turning the carb for clearance you are changing the angle at which the linkage pulls. Ideally you want your throttle servo to have as straight a pull as possible. If you offset the carb, you lose that. I wasn't trying to sound like a peepee in my previous response, sometimes on my mobile I keep it short.

no worries jet

you still come off like a peepee.....:D

the large shim also helps keep a space open in front of the front main bearing allowing it to run cooler.....less friction from the collet on the bearing race...

Thank you all. I was being serious though. The carb was tilted a little at a angle. By straightening it out, it not only kept the flywheel form rubbing, but gave me a straight pull on the carb. Like I said, stupid me. Do I realy need to have a nut right there on the flywheel if there is a screw on the end of the shaft? Thanks all again for the help.

Yes. The nut is for the flywheel pressure on the collet. The screw on the end of the shaft is just to keep the clutch bell from falling off. There should be no pressure between the screw in the end of the shaft and the bearing on the clutchbell. There should be just a 'tick' of play if it's all shimmed properly between the CB and the screw.
