If this one truly is like the others, as you say, then maybe you should just keep visiting them. Asking questions and seeking help is one thing, but asking a question (no matter how dumb it may be) then waiting and waiting to hear the answer you want to hear instead of taking the advice that is given is just plain stupid and a waste of time, not to mention resources like bandwidth, server maintenance and the like. This forum also serves as a place for friendly ribbing, but I don't think those that visit regularly and pay will think too kindly to individual(s) asking ignorant questions without taking a few minutes to perform a basic search then have the sand to call someone out. That kurt guy is a perfect example of a turbo-dink, thinking he had all the answers and spewing absolute garbage from his cake hole! You're not going to see too many folks here shedding a tear because his butt got bounced, I can assure you!
Your perception that this site is like other forums may be accurate to you, but the difference that I see is that the members here actually care about the quality of the advice given and aren't afraid to speak up when someone offers a blatantly stupid idea! I'd rather see that then be misled, personally.
The problem I see most often is that, rather than admit being wrong or simply not knowing, some folks would rather start flaming one another, making crap up! I'll be the first to admit that I have offered advice, only to have (thankfully) another member or contributor catch my mistake and correct me. Rather than call that person out, slinging rude comments and making an ass out of myself, I admit it and, get this, LEARN SOMETHING NEW!
No one here will admit they know everything (well, except Plaidfish, but he's still upset Kurt Cobain killed himself and that he can't find the movie "Singles" on Beta), but someone that comes in claiming they do, then starts talking out their rear end will be shown the virtual door quite quickly!
The idea is to help each other, not hold each others hands or wait to give you the answer you are looking for.
Of course, I could be wrong about all of this (except that bit about Plaid, that's all true, no matter what the "disgruntled gen-X'er" says!)
