Hey Guys,

What is an "IROCK" Crawler? Are there different kinds or styles of crawlers out there, and IROCK is just one of the different types? What are the different types and how do they differ? Thanks guys.

I am as ignorant as you, but I believe it is the BRAND of the chassis he used....crawlers are for the most part a DIY proposition...some guys at my LHS even bend and form the tube frames themselves....

Anyway you experts jump in here and make me look foolish.....its ok I am used to it.;)

I am used to looking foolish too. I have no idea about what crawling is all aobut, and aside from some pictures here, have never seen one in person. That is about the extent of my knowledge. They look cool though. Are they geared to go really slow.. hence the name crawler, or do they do that same speed as any normal electric MT? Since seeing Imbroken's crawler I have so many questions. Thanks guys.

Thanks Rob, I will check out that site... it looks really cool. I now know a bit more about crawlers, and subsequently a bit more interest!

Crawlers are very cool. You can buy a chassis from any number of manufacturers, or do like I did, and build your own set up. There is just so much you can do with them, and to them. I am planning on building my own tuber chassis next with the axles I just recently acquired.

Are ya thinking of another project???

I am always looking for the next project! LOL I can hear my wife now... "what do you need another one for?" Although I am not in the market for another RC just yet..... I am thinking about what I would like the next project to be though. Of course I could always build another plane and come on over to West VA and fly with ya.

Thanks for the info NC! Now does a crawler have any speed with it, or is it as the name states... crawl? I don't have any venues at all for rock crawling around here though, which kinda stinks. Other than off road, the only other form of RC racing is drag racing... which is cool, but I don't think I would like that as much. Anyway... I am thinking about building a crawler..... I just need to do my research.

I've got about 6 planes in the basement we could build on.
Should've heard some of the questions from the 'ol lady when I was buying them. Even more when I got that little radial and didn't have an airframe to put it in. :)

Hopefully things will slow down a bit and I can at least go to the field and watch.

I am with ya there. There is an airfield about 10 minutes from home, and it is really cool to drive by on a day like today and just watch. I have let me membership to the AMA expire so I would have to renew that to fly... but I don't need it to watch! Take care buddy, and I hope you get some time here soon. Flying is very relaxing.... until you hit the ground! LOL

Still got my AMA bro. Can hear the planes flying from my deck. Field is about a mile from my house? Always had a cookout with some great food. Just haven't been able to get back into it.

Have ya got one in mind you are going to build?
Do ya go to any of the aircraft events?
Thought I would be able to make it to Joe Nall this year, but things have changed. Might go to the Dayton airshow. Haven't told the 'ol lady yet.

I don't have anything particular in mind yet... I have always wanted a P51... but my skills have never been good enough to fly one, of course I still don't think they are good enough. LOL Of course if I had to pick one to build it would be a Piper Cub. I have found them easy to fly and they look really cool.. in my opinion. I was never more than a rookie pilot at best though. It has been a while since I have flown to, and would need to buddy up again.

I haven't ever been to a "big" event before, although I would love to go. There was never anything close to MD, that I knew about. The local club would have events throughout the year that I would go to though. I always like the Scale guys, and the acrobatic events. Those were cool. In fact I may take a drive out this weekend, just to see whats going on. Take care my friend!

Think I would have to be hooked up to a buddy cord too. Been about 4 yrs.
I could get off the ground and back down. Most of the time in one piece. Never had anything fast.

Not any big events here either. Couple of fly-ins at the local clubs. Joe Nall is about 5 hrs? Dayton is right at 4. I don't have much trouble with the 'ol lady as long as we can find something for her to do for a day. Works out most of the time.

Didn't mean to derail your thread....

No worries my friend..... not derailing at all. Even if you were, I still don't care. You are welcome to derail anytime! Take care bro.
