Wait can i change the title?

I lost the throttle servo on my MBX but I was able to grab the wing as it took off, I ate a lot of dirt but nothing bad happened to the car, hong nor throttle servo! upgraded to a nice waterproof steel geared one

But was it the battery? And was you rc new?
See i would understand if it was low batteries or even if i had 6 months of use.
To me if you have to change the reciver and the servos and battery pack it shell not be call "RTR"
Traxxas has always been good to me. I never ever had to change all that.
As a matter of fact they never ran away from me ether.
The jato comes with a return spring and my maxx dont but i never had a run away.
Even with low battery power.

Got a brand new ofna lx2 and spent a day breaking it in.
The very next day i wanted to tune it and have fun with it.
The first thing i did was swap out the AA batteries with new ones.
I know that the AA pack that it comes with is not ideal.
Anyways i started the buggy and made a few passes and
Befor i got to tune it it took off on me at full speed and hit a wall
Of a building leaving nothing but parts all over the lot i was in.
I checked for power to see if i lost power but it had power.
Total time running was about 8 minutes and i know that it should last more then that.
I bought the car on monday and Tuesday i was back at the shop and i told the guys there what happened. They said to leave it with them and they will find out what went wrong.
3Weeks later they called and said that the receiver has a problem and that they will send it in to the company (ofna) and they should take care of it.
Its been 6 weeks and i get a call from lhs saying that they didnt find anything wrong with the receiver or servos and that they will not cover anything.

I will never buy from ofna again!

Has anyone had issue with ofna? I'm talking having issues from brand new.....

Sorry about your troubles. OFNA states in the manual that using AA batteries will void warranty. Regardless of warranty, I agree that using the AA with flimsy holder is a bad idea. With 4 individual batteries there is 4 times the chance to loose contact. Maybe that is what happened ?
Your LHS had it for 3 weeks, so you can't blame OFNA only for the time it took. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing to do with OFNA. They don't make the cars, they are only distributor. And RTR's are built with lower standards to keep prices lower.
It can happen to any brand, I have seen almost any brand to get loose from time to time usually due lack of maintenance like throttle link covered in mud, binding parts, etc. I know, your buggy was new so it is not the case. I don't think you can properly break in the engine in one day, but that has nothing to do with the crash of course. Did you check all connections, screws, etc before you ran it ? I like to put spring on the throttle to give it extra protection in case of lost power. Fail safes only work with power on.
I have OFNA Buggy8. As with all RTR's you have to check everything twice before running it.
My 2 cents

I have put throttle return springs on along with return rubbers and still have run aways, when it decides to run it going to run. As for using AA's or rechargeables or stick pacs you can always have a bad connection never know when it will run. When a throttle servo goes one never knows when that will happen. One thing is for sure RTR's have low quality radio and servos but Traxxas makes a good radio and servos and they will stand behind them, even one of our club members uses a Traxxas radio for club racing and no problems.

@jose28 bruh after a year and all the same issues we've discussed bout the lx2 mine finally came together after replacing every single electronic component possible and just damn if that sob didn't take of on me again a couple days ago first time in a long time, watch out for those screw in servo horns, came unscrewed on break linkage and hung trottle, figurd out thats what the problem was when I got it to the buyer she's a goner. I understand wit this hobby anything can break and malfunction buf imo the overall chassis is strong but not a single component on the buggy is dependable. I've gotten a couple second hand xrays mugens and serpents off ebay fairly cheap and iMO they handle way better and is way stronger. Of cource I did have to do a lil maintenace to all of them being used but once I sat back and thought about it the cost of fixing and upgrading the ofna to make it dependable equals out to what you pay for the xrays serpents mugens losi and etc.IMO

I usually dont say much on these type of threads, but i understand that people getting into the hobby for the first time have a hard time pulling the trigger on a 400-600 dollar car, i have been in rc cars for almost 20 years, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! i understand you are frustrated with your problems, but we have all been there, my advice, buy a top brand from the get go (yes you may still have problems like runaways and bad electronics) but 99% of the time a reputable company will stand behind their product and take care of the consumer, Ask any of the veterans here, if you buy a good brand, you get good service and most of the time good reliable rc's.

+1 tmaxx I learned the hard way I bout gave up the hobby so many times in my first year and it all boiled down to exactly what you said. I've down sized my collection but now have a lil higher quality equipment and I'm in love again, lol

Well i only got 5 rc's. T maxx 3.3,jato 3.3,lx comp,lx1,lx2 on my way to pick up a E maxx tomorrow. I've been looking at the E maxx for some time now and sounds like a good buy. Tmaxx and jato never really let me down so i figured an E maxx will be a fun truck as it comes with a Castle. I've herd alot of good things about it. As time passed I've came to think about ofna and i never really had any issue with them. I guess it is safe to say i got a bad one. After putting in futaba servos and new switch and now running spectrum radio the buggy has been "ok" i hate the front shock towers they bend every time i run it. I dont get it. I dont get how my lx1 has yet to bend one and ots the same tower! Lol
I'm thinking its the shocks. Lx1 has the small bore and lx2 has the big bore.
What do you vet's think of the E maxx?

I just picked up the EMaxx and WOW! Impressive. The black body looks very nice.
Every thing look solid.

Question: can i run a tube from the tune pipe to the back of the buggy?
Or will that hurt the engine?

Doing a rally car out of the ofna buggy and would like a rear exhaust

Haha got an estimate on parts and it came out to $280
I paid $309 plus tax for the darn buggy.
Its looking more of a 100% upgrade build for the next year.
All that is really left that i can use is the motor and maybe the rear diff.

Jose,

I'm new to this forum and this caught my eye. How did you obtain this "estimate"? I have quite a few nitros (including an OFNA Hyper 7) and the dollar amount you are stating is 90% of the buggy's parts. I just want to make sure you did not take it to your LHS and they gave you this "estimate". Can you line-item each of the parts that are broken?

Thanks!
