hey, i have a exeed thunderfire(nitrorcx.com) and i wanted to turn it into a rock crawler without buying a whole new chasis and shock systems. are there any ways to make it more like a rock crawler? softer shocks? higher gear ratio?

No not really because crawlers are straight axles and not independent suspension. You will never make it crawl anything like a straight axles rig, not even close. You would be better off selling it and buying a crawler.

I'm not realy looking for a streight out rock crawler, otherwise i could just custom build one. I'm looking to modify an off road to get somewhat of a hybrid.:D

I agree with SNG...they are different animals. Same way you could never take an on-road car and convert it to an off-road and expect it to perform the same. But you can always try and have fun with it!

Without locked diffs, it won't crawl up anything. And locked diffs will trash your driveline. Locked diffs trash driveline parts in quality, higher-end vehicles. I'd use that rig for its intended purpose and save up for a crawler.

Actually this beast does exist. It's called the Traxxas Summit!!!

The summit is nothing like a crawler though, just locked, thats the only thing.

i have both a scx10 and a summit... the scx is hands down the better crawler of the two. and it just looks so cool doing it. dont get me wrong, the summit is a blast to drive and can (if you can drive good enough) navigate some gnarly terrain. both have their strong and weak points, but do what they were intended to do very well. however, i do agree with SNG in that if you wanna crawl... getta crawler, or even better get a scaler. either way you are gonna be much happier in the end. just my .02
