I witnessed the setup in action at RCX.

I will be patient and wait.

does it shame your gorilla?
I'm waiting on the front shaft and I'll be done with mine....
U think a buggy with this setup kick some nitro ass????

PSU have no fear you will see that setup in action soon......

I'm sorta of confused on this subject..Why is it that the electric guys want to race with the nitro guys in off road..My background for the past few years has been in on road racing..We had separate classes for nitro and electric because they are quite a bit different. Personally I dont care if an electric buggy/truggy is faster..I have the money, knowledge, to run electric if i wanted to..but i dont want to..If the electric guys want to run..let them..but they should be in their own class.. i enjoy the frustration of nitro..

Personally I don't mind running either way. I used to say that I would never run electric, it seemed to boring compared to nitro. Then I ran an electric and realized how much I enjoyed it. I have somewhere aroun5 14 RC's, give or take one or two, and I have gas, nitro, and electric, and probably always will. I enjoy all the aspects of building them, regardless of power source.

Well, there is no "production" 1/8 ele buggy kit.(well there is, but not a mojor player) That is the major draw to it. There could be a class for the brushless 1/8 , but at this time they are few and and far between at the club level. So they kinda have to run with the nitros. It's the fun of running someything new.
I built a truggy from a Ofna LX before they were the BIG thing, only one around at the time was the Blazer and original SUT.

I do want a separate class and I have raced nitro 1/8 scale for a few seasons....I'm just not racing anymore and want simple maintenance R/Cs, and B/L w/ LiPo does that....I just want to know if these things are more ballistic than buggies already are...cause if they are I may be getting back into 1/8 scale sometime down teh road again...and charlie I'm pretty sure I'll be selling teh buggy....LOL....not looking into adding more rigs.......YET...

That would be a yes..the electric buggys are very fast. I'm quite sure that when they become more "mainstream" they will become even faster..as battery tech. gets better you will see longer run times as well. I like nitros because the tech. has not advanced as fast as electric..it keeps the costs down..i have "played" the electic game and found it quite expensive if you race and wish to keep up with the latest and greatest electronics

Heat isnt normally an issue if you gear it to go no faster than you would expect the nitro to go. But once you start gearing her up to go-fast mode, then even with max airflow, cooling fans on the speedie, and even heat sinks on the motors, (if the kits allow you room to fit them) then heat will be a problem. Just for the record the 3.5 and 4.5 seem to run hotter. I guess thats 'cause they produce the mega power. As we all know power means heat. I've cooked many, be carefull and enjoy.
Just as a footnote; If you run brushless with NiMh, although power will suffer a little, the system will run cooler.
Power draw I guess, but Lipo is the only way for Max Power..... Grunt.

Well, on a 1/8 buggy, the gear ratio is critical.I know I would of had to gear WAY down to use the 4.5 that I was going to use. That was on a Hyper 7. But the RC8 has a truggy gear ratio, and you have a greater range of pinions you can use because of this.

Lipo tech is actually a bit much for the speedo tech. That is where the biggest advancements are going to be needed. We'll see how the MMM and the newer HV Maxx esc's will work.

Hey Guys,

A buddy of mine just finished a Brushless conversion on a CEN Matrix. We just got back from running it on the track and it was amazing to watch it eat up some of the Nito Cars. Anyway, I decided to get in touch with this guy we know that sells CEN Matrix Rollers for Brushless Conversions and I am able to get them for about $169 if anyone is interested or with the factory radio equipment (Airtronics MX3 radio and one metal gear servo) still installed for about $240. Let me know if anyone is interested. I'd really like to help you guys out with your conversions if I can. I know my buddy used Novak's kit and it was pretty basic.

I have a Novak HV Pro 4.5 (the newly revised and upgraded edition) brushless system for sale. It's in my sale thread in the classifieds. It's perfect for a nitro to brushless conversion.
