Already done.

If they don't, I may just install one in my STR.

is there anymoer information on these conversion kits? i tried looking on their site, but it didnt have any specific links to the individual kits or how much they cost

They just announced the conversions.

My guess would be around $450 with the motor and esc.

phew! that's a few chunks of dough.. so a brand new converted top of the line electric 1/8 buggy is basically gonna run a g-note w/o servos, radio, or batteries. it's only a matter of time before the MFGers take a slice of that pie.

WOW...i know you're only guessing but 400-500 bucks on just the conversion. maybe its just me, but like lessen said 1k for a top shelf electric ride will price this idea out of the reach of most people.

Hopefully they keep it around $350. I don't see it going much lower than that though. The ESC and motor combo alone is around $265.

yeah, that would be reasonable, but I wouldn't be surprised at $400. All in all I suppose it's not really THAT bad.. considering you can spend a whole lot more than $265 on a hot big block nitro engine. it'll be interesting to see how the market reacts to this. Electric is the big thing these days so we'll just see.

I'm glad to see a company like Novak is taking the lead in this area. What a great way to take the homework out of the conversion and bring brushless to the masses. I hope the system runs as well as the rest of Novak's products.

I think I will just pick one up for my STR. Their HV brushless system gives my Gorillmaxx plenty of grunt and speed. The STR weighs much less. The HV system in it would be insane when I combine it with 2 Lipo packs.

I was thinking of doing another brushless build in the spring but with this coming out I might go in a different direction. I can envision dropping one of these into the Kyosho Inferno GT and ripping it up on the asphalt.

Lets think about this...

You are replacing a $150-400 nitro motor, eliminating a $60-140 Servo, No fuel, no glow plugs, no igniters, no starter boxes, no person to put you on the starter stand, and getting the reliability and longevity of a Brushless motor. Most raced nitro motors last a few months at the max, and if a mistake is made, it can blow in in one race.

Both the SS brushless systems I had I raced for a whole season in 10th scale truck and 4wd buggy, and then sold both. If Novak can keep that kind of reliability in their motors, (and the competitors will come as well) The sport will actually get cheaper, and much more novice friendly.

People don't seem to see the significance of Novak releasing this system. Novak releasing this system will lead to 1/8th scale Electric Classes, both Buggy and Truggy, the fastest growing classes in our sport.

Imagine, 1/8 scale track owners being able to locate a track anywhere they want to due to the limited noise produced by electrics, imagine 1/8 scale indoor racing,(no loss of revenue to rainy days).

For us, imagine being able to work on your car at home, AND TEST IT, no matter where you live...

An 1/8th scale brushless class will grow this sport more than probably anything else ever has.

Obviously, an 1/8th scale Nitro class will remain, and I will probably still race it occasionally as I would miss the smoke, noise, and pitting, but this will be an evolutionary change for our sport.

Well said Murphy.

If you look back in RC history Nitro V Electric has always come in waves keeping up with technology. Now that electrics can run longer then nitro and produce just as much power if not more for close to the same price the tide has turned back to the electric.

I remember just a few months ago a member here posting that electric power for RC is dead and gone. LMAO.

I love the smell of nitro in the morning as long as it's someone else running it and I am wearing ear plugs.

I am salivating just thinking about this!!! I can't believe I have just noticed this post. I wonder if the Ofna stuff will work with my Jammin X1? What sweet news is this?!!! Nitro is damn tough to run at a moments notice... with this I can be tearing it up in just the time it takes to hook the batteries. This is going to be big for the industry guys.

apparently Novak and Losi have had some sort of falling out. Losi is conspicuously absent from the brands the conversions are being made for.

Losi was selling brushless 1/10 scale trucks with Novak motors but they have replaced them with losi-branded motors.

I was really looking forward to doing this with a American-made Losi buggy.

Looks like I'll have to use the Rc Product designs kit and the novak motor/ESC kit. Hopefully they have upgraded the shaft to 5mm.

Guess Novak will miss out on some of my buying dollar.

O MY FREAKIN GOD...they made one for Xray....sorry nitro boys...going stealth...
the motors say they have 3.2 mm shafts but they have a 5mm conversion here

how do you know what gear to use...I could only find the 12t in the 5mm size....is that just what you get is what you get? hopefully they have more pinions to choose from....
just think, reverse on a buggy...
