I do not know how to use this poop and it is nothing like laquer. I just ruined a $20 body. I did the worst paint job I have ever done. It puddles and is inconsistent in color. I was @ 30 psi, I mixed 50/50 paint /acry thinner and it is garbage. Never again will I try it Blah!:nono: It was color change blue btw.

I ruined a body when a LHS sold me Pactra cans with lack of presure, it was impossible to spray thin coats due the paint flowed slowly and thick, the over paint made my chrome paint crack. The worst think was that happened in a Kyosho original body of about 40$ here. The best think, I sold the body to a guy that really loved it. Here you have a pic. of the messed area.

You can't spray laquer over chrome.

Well I allways add a last spray coat to protect first coats from Fuel, works great with Tamiya and other brans, never got cracking problems adding thin coats it seems that Pactra should also work but not with lapsed cans as I did.

I agree with NCNitro, I think you thinned it out way too much... The only color I've had to thin out was a thick yellow I got one time. Those color change paints are even more sensitive to thinning. I would say boost up your pressures a bit next time, instead of thinning.

If you are using the rattle-cans for painting, and you think they are underpressured...heat them up a little by letting them soak in some warm to boiling water for a minute or so. That will pressurize the can nicely. Just don't overdo it...or the can might explode (see warning label on the can)

Painting lacquer over chrome a bad thing? I didn't know that. Thanks for mentioning that little tidbit. I used Pactra black paint to back my chrome and it worked like a champ. Not sure if it was lacquer or acryllic.

Blazer, I dont thin it, I use it straight from the jar and I have never had a problem.

That's probably why it sucked, I thinnned it and it was too watery
I am used to laquer wich I do 50-50 or 60-40 with the 60 being paint. So I guess that is where I went wrong. Anyways it sucks and I feel like poop. This is the worst job I have ever done and I have to use the body tomorrow as it is the only one I have.

I will post them when I got to lunch, and it is that bad beleive me!

as requested

Maybe my eye sight is going but that body doesn't look ruined to me. The bottom pic shows the front to be a little darker than the rest. Is that what you are talking about?

We'll have to take your word on that one. Even with the areas highlighted I still had a hard time seeing the body being in bad shape. Is this a show piece or a racer? If it is the latter, the sucker should be moving fast enough that no one is going to notice the problems. Of course, you can always jump the car off the roof with this body on it...:D

a 50/50 mix of thinner to paint is a bit off when thinning paints for airbrushing the best to do is add very little thinner at a time unitl it reaches the consistency of cream.. it looks like this body went down the drain because if you want to repaint then you have to take all the paint of... trying to take a small area off of a color like chamaleon dont do much good

50/50 with Pactra laquer is where you'd start with their solid colors. The stuff is thick.

tru dat Wardo, stuff is thick. With Laquer Wardo hit it right 50/50 is where you strat with solids. I use 60/40 on candies and pearls. I beleive I will follow NC's advice for using aryclic in the future as I know he can paint and has experience with the Pactra. Thanks everyone for the help. I guess I eat my words I will try it again.

I didnt think you were supposed to thin the flip colors AT ALL.

Right from the bottle that should be it.

Pactra, Parma and Spaztix should all be good right from the jar, if fasflip/chrome. NO THINNER AT ALL!

I only like laquers anyhow.

I'm just echoing what the LHS told me in regards to chromes and fasflips. Sorry if repeated.

Nice job though Humboldt. Looks good from film.

The first time that i ever painted a body i used this crap and it looked very bad i will never use that crap again......Nick

all though i now use an airbrush when i did my first body i got a free spray can of pactra and it was crap first it had this stuff come out that looked like silly string and then it gave a crappy spray pattern...i took the pactra stuff off and just airbrushed it and did some graffix on the way
