I’m really interested in the trail hunter, might not be the best crawler but seems to be a great trail truck.
After that, most likely, I’ll get me the juice up. I like the venture 18, a very realistic rig but not sure it’s for me.
I’m about to go visit my dad for a few weeks but after that I’ll get on this project.

Go Injora, you can build your own trailhunter'esque from the ground up..😆

Great looking trucks! I'm thinking seriously about scratch building an Injora rig similar to this but maybe add the tow truck winch for giggles and grins too. Dumb question, I take it that all trx4m have torque twist? Or is that done away with if you build from Injora and Meus or other aftermarket?

I'm having second thoughts if this is a big issue. I don't have any Traxxas yet so this subject is interesting to me

I've been trying real hard to resist purchasing one of these HPI Venture 18's for that exact reason..I'm always happy when finishing up a trx4m based builds but then I have to set aside 2-3 days dedicated to eliminating the torque twist to a minimum...This thing checks alot of boxes and they now have brushed & brushless version for a non budget busting price point. So many other manufacturers finally stepping up to the plate with much better offerings lately that Traxxas can't sue them all into oblivion. Anyhow, this Venture 18 may be worth a peek..👍

This! I want one (brushless) so bad I can taste it! Kid has an FMS FCX24 Power Wagon (brushless green/black) he likes pretty good too. Crawl with it, shift to high, and bash with it too

Thanks Burnzone..almost all of these type of rigs have some type of torque twist..for some reason the trx4m and trx4m based builds it seems more noticeable. Some folks it doesn't bother, while others it's an annoying quirk. It can be 'stabilized' with some options such as shock spring rate changes, shock oil viscosity/thickness, shock preload tension adjustment, running double springs on selective corners of the rig or some just run soft spring rates, thin oil and the shocks are 'compressed' all the time. Just using crawl/lower gears helps quite a bit. That gearing is more torque (low end) related than having the 'off-the-line' jump start quickness/ hole shot. That's some of my results, your mileage may vary..😊

Thanks for the reply! I got to doing some research on this myself after I posted. Cape Crawlers says it's like that annoying habit of your spouse or partner. You can take steps to reduce or mitigate it but at some point you have to resign yourself to living with it because you love the rest of them enough that it makes it worth it 😉😆 so now I'll have to think about it some more.

It'll be interesting to see what @Martin trj gets since he's looking to "divorce" if you will 😄

I know the search is for 1/18 but some of those 1/24 are almost 1/18 IMO. Good luck!

I think we all know how much of a pain it is to deal with the trx4m torque twist. While I’m not an expert at all, I’ve messed with my share of trx4m stuff. Every single one of the ones I own has torque twist at some level, even after upgrading to ball bearings, adding thicker oil to the shocks, not over tightening the wheel nuts, etc. I’ve been considering getting a different 1/18 brand. I know, there are a bunch out there but I was looking at a cr18p t hunter. Counter rotating rear driveshaft sounded pretty interesting.
I’d like to hear your recommendations and opinions on that rig.
Thanks
Hi, I have the CR18p, those drive shafts are beefy, and the way that they work is unreal!! the the whole truck if you wanna call it that, is very well thought out! No rattles, portal axles, very consistent and great ride!! Don’t be fooled, that battery is small but it runs a long time and dependent on what charger you use, it will charge quickly, after buying the FMS FJ 40, a big unbalanced, as we call it POS! Anybody who else has problems with their FJ 40 from FMS feel free to chime in thanks for your time!!!

My T-Hunter does not have beefy drive shafts.

You have the V3, they must have figured out the V1 stuff just wouldn’t cut it. Mine was a kit, I built it. It has the 050 brushed motor and single speed trans.
Those are thiccck

Hey guys, back from my trip ready to pull the trigger on the cr18 but I just watched a video about the redcat ascent 18 apex. Adam from Cape crawlers was reviewing it. Omg!!
Do you guys own one yet?
