Ok, so you are at a cross road right now. If you buy a charger specifically for those batteries you are going to lock yourself in to using Spektrums proprietary battery system which technically works fine, but you'll be locked in to using nothing but Spektrums crappy batteries and chargers. Pretty much everyone on this site will tell you what I'm about to tell you. Don't do it! Get out from under their proprietary crap before you dig in to it deeper. There are waaaaay better chargers and LiPos out there.

For balance cable extensions get these instead. They are already designed to accept 2s to 6s LiPo's.

Hey all, appreciate all the input! A few days ago I got the Mojave Grom. The kids and I have been playing with it a lot, tearing around the driveway and the street, and setting up some jumps, it's been a blast.

So far it's a great entry into the hobby and will help steer us toward the next RCs. As someone said this smaller scale is definitely not a good fit for tall grass so the kids have seen that, it's really quick so not a crawler...gives the kids a chance to figure out what they like or don't like. I'm just happy to drive it flat out on the street, I giggled the first time I drove it

Trying to figure out messages, do I need a minimum post count? I wanted to follow up with @WickedFog on cables/adapters to use with the battery and a 3rd party charger.

Not sure what's going on with that Surly. Some people have recently mentioned the PM option is not working. I pm'd you. See if that works.

Welcome! Excellent choices! I would go with the TRX4M or the SCX24 as a crawler. I would go with the Arrma Grom. I've heard nothing but good things about these models. And I have had a TRX4M and they are pretty good with unlimited kinds of aftermarket parts. FMS FCX24m is a territory i'm not familiar with, I had one at one time, but I did nothing to it because it was my first true crawler.

Arrma GROMs are awesome, but buy a set of metal diffs with it.

Quick follow up: Bought myself an Arrma Mojave Grom, the kids and I are really into it. I'm surprised the tires have any tread left

The other day I ordered a Traxxas TRX4M as a reading reward, looking forward to that arriving this weekend.

Now I'm on to reading up to find a common battery charger and batteries.
