Hey everyone, glad I found this forum, looks awesome so far. I picked up an LST yesterday locally. The truck looks decent, it's got the .26? engine on it. It had not been operated in some time. I picked it up for what I thought was a good price. I went home, started playing with things, found the carb was completely stuck. worked the linkage a bit, it loosened and as it got fuel in it, it now operate properly it seems. I ended up getting it started (used my drill as the battery in the wand was dead) after a few minutes of trying. I pulled the glow plug on it out and threw in a new one I had in my box.. Anyways, the steering was kind of crappy on it. for electronics batteries, it's got a 4 pack of AAs zipstripped to the front bulk head. That seemed kind of ghetto to me. I replaced the batteries, turned the receiver on and the radio on (stock XS3) and both front wheels jsut start twitching side to side and not responding well to the remote. You turn the remote off, the stop twitching (you can also hear an elctrical hum when the radio is turned on. I thought maybe the remote was set up wrong, the steering trims were off. I changed channels, resynced the truck to that signal, same thing. I put the old batteries in and it operated better. Last night, I supported the truck off the ground and replaced the batteries again and put it on the new freq, without the wheels on the ground, the steering was alot better, more responsive and all. When you put the truck on the ground, it won't turn the wheels. I'm thinking that with the upgraded servos that come on the LSTs, that the AAs are not enough juice for all the electronics? I saw a kit on ebay that used 2 battery packs for everything, seems like alot more power. It steers while moving, just not as crisp as i'd expect. Also, having a bit of an issue keeping it running. At idle, it's trying to creep forward, and the RPMs are up on the truck. I'm guessing Ican adjust that with the radio. I will mess with that today. Where is a good starting point for the carb needles? when it's running, it smokes alot.
Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long post.
Brian

Lets start with the steering. MTs don't want to steer when they sit on the ground. There's just too much tire causing to much resistance.
The twitching is often caused by having the radio antenna too close to the receiver. Move it farther back from the truck when making adjustments.
To adjust the idle, let the engine warm up before you adjust anything. Make sure the trim knob for the throttle is turned all the way down, and while holding the trigger in full brake position, adjust the idle screw.
The trim knob should only be turned up for starting and warming up at idle. Beyond that, it needs to be mechanically set so that the brakes work properly with the same servo.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out the problem, it was the batteries. I put a FRESH pack of Duracells in the truck last night and it ran like a champ. I was able to run almost 2 tanks through it before getting dark last night. It's pretty bad ass, especially when you can steer it! It does seem more stable than my Tmaxx. Was also able to pull a few wheelies with it. I ordered a radio battery pack and the 3200 mah battery pack for the truck this morning. I saw there is a LST2 upgrade kit from Losi on ebay. is that worth the 140 bucks? What's the easiest way to tell if it's an LST or LST2? I'm pretty sure it's a 1 though.
Thanks,
Brian
