Go hang out where you plan to race at most, be a turn marshall and learn what the better drivers run in the class u prefer, also get the class rules and what is legal for electronics ie 17.5 blinky etc.

I learned quickly doing what i said that i am not the driver to race at my local indoor small technical clay track nor able to fund a pro level setup to even try to hang with these pro drivers.

those 10th scale brushless buggies are so fast and our track so small and technical i couldnt have the hand eye coordination for

That is some great advice. Shops and track officials are always looking for track marshall's to help out.

my first time being corner marshal think i was 13 it was a big outdoor track with big jumps with room to get some speed, A mostly aluminum mutant maxx with a big block picco hit the first table top sideways and i was bent over behind the backside ramp flipping over a truck, stood up, and broke my knee severely my patella (knee cap) was in the fold of my leg my leg below the knee cap was twisted 180 my foot pointed behind me.

Now you know my bias on why i dont do any maxxes one crippled me dammitt!
