Wondering if it tends to go left? As in a hang-it-all-out and turn-left dirt track. Is it a steering adjust or a chassis set-up stock-out-of-the-box for dirt track racing? -AC
The video shows the chassis upgrades to make this a purpose built oval racing car.
It looks like its pretty well designed. I'd love to see it running on a track as intended!
I bet a track full of these things will be a total blast!!! 😍❤️😁

For oval racing you you tune the car for the corner. It's all about maintaining as much speed in the corners as possible. So this means offset changes to the front and rear, left rear toe-in, right rear toe-out, front tow can be adjusted for the corner too. Depending on the track banking some chassis don't even need steering input to make the corner and then you turn to the right to go down the straight. If you watch real life dirt oval cars they crabwalk going straight.
That is just like the real car setups. I worked in a sprint car pit, helping one of our engineers one evening. Between heats, we'd pull the wheels and change the offsets. By the time we were done that night it looked like someone had plowed into the rear axle with a truck because the rear was offset so much.

We also adjusted the rear links so the rear axle was crabbing the car pretty hard

It's super cool. I really, REALLY wanted one of the Tyco Turbo sprints in the late 80's and never got one. But, didn't have anywhere to run one then, still don't now.
I would love to get just about ANY car to a track right now! 🤣
There is no dirt oval track in my area that I know of.
There are 1:1 circle tracks tho so maybe the idea will take off quickly. 😎
I love the idea of a bunch of these cars running so its just about driver skill, no upgrades etc. How fun!!! 😁

I watched the AMain video earlier and they said it was the same geometry as the 22 buggy but that's clearly not the case. Strut towers look more upright in oval/drag style, completely different chassis plate with battery relocated and electronics relocated. Can't remember if servo mount is the same or different. Very cool kit. I am very interested in picking one up but the custom works, gfrp, ghost chassis, etc. are very popular in my area so I don't know if this will open up any racing options for me.
They put the aluminum chassis plate on it that is available for the 22s. I did that to mine. I don’t care for that rubber battery strap thing. Servo mounts up the same way

i know the 21.5 foam tire cars are faster in the corners than in the straights because they are so optimized for the corner, the straight is when the suspension is bound up and not as free. Oval racing is pretty amazing imo. Lot's of people think it's easy or simple but there's every bit of depth to than any other form of racing.

Sure is. We have a small 1/4 mile dirt track close to here called Lincoln park. That's where I worked on the sprint car. You could see how much the smallest changes made.

Then the Terre Haute Action Track is a half mile. The racing there is insane to witness.

I need to get out to the real track some time. Bunch of guys I race rc with race on and off in the big cars

I love all live dirt track stuff. I could watch it every night and never get bored with it.

People want to race, they'll find a way.

Friday night 1/4 mile dirt track fairgrounds Beatrice, Nebraska back in the 70s we ran Australian Pursuits with the '10 car'. Last car every lap got black flagged until there was only one car left one the track. That car took a trophy lap and everyone went home knowing they'd been racing.

No reason this can't work for RC. Not every car needs to be an A-feature car.

And, yeah, Terra Haute Action Track was always one of our wanna dos. It's the very definition of sprint car racing - that along with Knoxville, which we did every Saturday night in the B-Feature.

Heck, lots of room in RC circle track for the Losi 22s. Kudos for Losi for stepping up with an affordable package. 3300Kv sensorless should give the 22s crowd pleasing wheeling action on the front straight. -AC

I grew up watching these "midgets" as we called them, race around a dirt oval. My dad would take us all the time, so I have a soft spot for this kind of car.
I haven't looked at this car much, but I do know the aluminum chassis for the 22s is way better than the plastic thing mine came with, a 3300kv motor should be super quick, and that as a 2wd SCT, this chassis is way fun to drive. I have not driven it much since they discontinued the sct out of fear they would discontinue parts. This new car gives me another chance to stock up on some parts.

Yeah, we have a new midget specific track here too. Both dirt and pavement. It's right next door to the 1/8 and 1/10 RC tracks here. I'm not sure this is a spectator track though as much as it is a training facility. Never been there.

Then just a couple miles west is the big dawg Outlaw track. Super fast racing on this one.

And right next door to the Action Track is the 1/8 mile drag strip. I watched a top fuel funny car do a pass on this track. Local guy was testing his car.

Track heaven!!! 😍

Track heaven!!! 😍
Yeah, that whole area down there by the RC tracks is old strip mines, gravel pits, dirt bike trails, etc. I am 100% positive had I moved down by there when I came back to my hometown from Indy our RC collection would look a lot different.

RC track, and off road playground.

I hope we get to see that Tekno of yours out here!!! 😍

I wish man. There would have to be a miracle happen before I could even make it from a car to the track. Breydon will be able to drive in a few years. Then I plan to buy him a truck that will be easy for me to climb into. Low sitting cars just aren't possible for me any more.

Until then, we have two fields, and an empty drainage pond out back that would be almost like driving a dirt oval.

I'll call the ppl "upstairs" and see about getting you a miracle! 😎👍
Until that comes thru tho, your tracks sound fun too!!! 😍
Ice Road RC is about melted/mudded out for the season! ☹️🤣
