That wasn't a '79,it's the original Bandit car which is a '77 Special Edition. '79 is when they came with the weak turbo engine.

Also the high end engine was only rated at 200hp that year.

Not going to lie, that is an ugly lid, lol I hate Firebirds... Lets just say if they made a lexan dog turd lid, I would buy it before that :D

LOL, whats wrong with drifting a trans am? I've never done drifting before. Is there a reason I wouldnt want to use that body or is it one of those unwritten rule type things?

I got a rope right here....string him up boys!!! :P

Crazy, that car has more class than any of these tin can pieces of crap they make these days. Just lacked on hp, but thats nothing a 383 stroker swap wouldnt take care of. Like they say though opinions are like _ _ _ _ _ _ _'s! Everyones got one.

Fixed it for ya. I'd rather swap in an LSX myself.

U would sure need an upgraded motor because although the car is sweeeeeeetttt, it was a guttless wonder. Probably like 185hp if that. BOAT ANCHOR!!!!!!!!

Agreed , such a good looking car and a timeless ride , but my wifes honda accord sedan would probably give it a runwith the a/c on.:hehe: Great looking body for my road car though. Not poking fun , just stating facts , after 71 , the "smog years" took over. the fastest american production car in the late 70's was actually a truck!!!! The dodge little red express!!:\

I watched "White Lightning" since the Daytona was postponed, and I must say I would take that big brown LTD he was driving to the car in Bandit.
The Trans Am LOOKED good, but the sound from that big Ford was AWESOME. :whhooo:

My lips are still tingly from driving it around today.

That "Whoooooooomp" sound doesn't need to be dubbed. It's just something special you'll never get with fuel injection. That's the sound I grew up with when you kicked in the big 4 barrel carbs. I had it on my '69 GTO with a duel pump, duel feed carb, 400 ci and Turbo 400 trans.

We still have that whoooshing, gulping sound. Only nowadays, it's coming from your wallet. :D

Yeah, I remember that sound, and will never forget getting to drive a friends mustang after going to a local engine builder. Holley 750 double pumper, and a high RPM top end rush motor setup. Before I could finish my statement about how I wasn't all that impressed for the money he's spent, the tach needle swung past the 3000 mark, letting the rest of the engine catch up to the fuel dump, and I was suddenly trying to catch up to the rapidly passing us rear end. :hehe:

I remember those days as well. When I used to kick in the secondaries on my old Q-Jet I could watch the speedometer go clockwise towards the peg and the fuel gauge go the other direction even faster.

Speed costs money. How fast do you want to spend?

EDIT:

Trans Am Music videos anyone?
