I'm looking to get new engines for my hpi nitro mt and my losi xxx nt. Looking online i found one for the xxx nt "M26SS with PS SG" losr1001 is the mdel number i got. mach 26 with slide carb. Dont know much about slide carbs is there an engine like this with rotary carb, and is this engine good for the xxx nt? For the hpi i found hpi 15107 Nitro Star T3.0 Engine with Pullstart. Is this a good engine for the nitro mt? Any input would be greatly apperciated, as my cars are currently collecting dust. Also Anyone in chicago area got engines the wanna sell?

i only have 2 different brands. first was traxxas 3.3. just be ready to replace the con rod. i have a O.S. 21tm. very fast. but dont have a lot of time on it, did i say it was fast. was a bolt in to a Jato. you can allso run the idle speed higher than stock. gives a faster launch.

correction i said "but dont a lot" should have been "but dont have a lot of time" the old brain doesn't work very good some times.

The nitro star is a powerful engine for it displacement! Its a .18 and has over 1HP. I know that my friend has the rs4 evo and that thing tears balls. It puts up a fight against my 4-tec with a o.s. .18tz. And idk where to start with the losi lol and for that engine you mentioned for you losi... They probably sell a rotary carb for it i would imagine.

Traction Would Be Nice!!!

The mach .26 Dynamite engine is the stock engine for the LST2. Its a great MT engine for its price but better can be had. You will pay a lot more for something better though. I have since converted my LST2 to electric my I found a new home for my Mach .26 in another kit and its been going strong for something like 7-8 gallons now. If you were gonna use that engine though Id put it in your MT not in a XXX-NT but thats on you. You can also pick up the Losi 454 engine for the XXL off of ebay for 100-120 bucks (at least thats what they were last time I looked) Those are a good budget motor too :)

Pretty sure unless your looking to do a custom big block install, you don't want the M26SS.

A good old OS18CV-R is a reliable strong engine that will last a long time.

FYI, this is a big block engine (like the M26SS, but a 21 vs 26) next to a small block (OS18Cv-R, more like what you probably want):

Cool. Didnt realize the 26 was big blok. Definatly dont wanna do that. I'm just looking for something i can drop in. Ill look up that 18 n c what thats all about.

This is the OS 18 CV-R(X):

Standard shaft/rotary carb/side exhaust.

A drop in for the xxx-nt.

Have to cut the crank for the NitroMT and get engine mounts:

or for something a bit more stout:

I used this to cut mine I believe:

Screw it on (make sure by lining the flywheel/collet up), put the engine in a baggie, poke the crankshaft through the side of the baggie and zip off the end of the shaft. The baggie keeps the filings out of the engine.

I ran that engine in my HPI NitroMT:

Was a gutsy little engine for that rig.

Yeah the O.S. .18CV-R is discontinued. Look at the .18 CV-RX or the .18CV-RX(s). These are also both rotary carbs if I remember correctly that is what you needed. If not they have a slide carb version too.

Thanks. Is the losi mach 15 carb smaller than the hpi 3.0 carb?? Also i got a gal of 30% and a gal of 20% if i mix them does that give me 2 gal of 25%? Good idea or no??

The one I put in the link is available at tower and is the one to buy for the MT.

I mix mine that way to get 25%. My LHS doesn't care 25%, so whenever I buy, I get a gallon of 20 and 30, them mix them in an empty gallon jug.

You can still find the .18 CV-R for sale at retailers but I was just pointing out the fact that its discontinued. Personally Id look for something that isnt so replacement parts dont become an issue later on down the line.
