So I went into the hobby shop to get a new engine for my RC10GT to replace my OS .12 CVX that never really ran right and I ended up walking out with a new OS .18 CVRX. I had intended on getting a smaller engine than that but when the shop guy showed my the .18 it just looked like too much fun to pass up. Before I drop it in and fire it up though I wanted to ask what you guys thought. Is that a good fit for my truck? I don't want too much power but I want to be on the upper end of what's controllable. The guy at the shop said it would be a great engine for bashing. I obviously don't plan on doing any sanctioned racing with it but there will be plenty of recreational racing with against my friend who have mainly Revos and Savages. Please tell me I got the right engine so that I can start breaking it in tomorrow.

That is way too much power. You will be probably popping wheelies. I would have went with the os cvr .12. The reason os came out with the .18 was something that would bolt right in for the monster trucks.

The OS .18tm is for MT, not for stadium trucks. However the OS hey got is for stadium trucks. You might have to gear up a little bit to keep the wheels on the ground but not too much. You should be fine. Remember some people put .21 in the GT's.

Yep, thats me!!!

Ok. The .18cvrx should be fine in the GT. Remember, it only has like 1.3hp and doesn't rev really high, so you will need to re-gear. I really dont think thats enough power, but i have a big block!!! I have to keep my finger under control or it will spin out... :hammer:

Thanks for the replys. Incidently, I just checked out the OS website and they claim the .18CVRX is perfect for the RC10GT. I do, however, value the advice from the users of this forum more than anything a manufacturers website says. It sounds like most everyone is in agreement though that it will be a fine engine for my truck. Now, does anyone have any advice on a larger fuel tank for the GT? I was getting mediocre run times with my .12 so I am expecting even worse run times with the .18 engine. It would be nice to find something that is at least 100cc if not a bit bigger. And as far as gearing it up, what would you recommend as the best way to do that? Bigger spur gear or smaller clutch bell (or do I have that backwards)? Any suggestions on a good gear combo for that engine? Thanks again for the help.

I dont think you can ever have to much power!!!! lol jk. I think you will be happy with the .18 I have heard a ton of good things about them and with some practice you should be able to control it with no problem and be able to burn most other Rc10,s unless you where to race .21Rc10GT :hehe:

Aint that the truth?! Lol... Yeah, my gt is pretty damn quick. I just bought a THS on-road exhaust kit for it.. Just found out i need skinnier tires... Oh well, i have the 17mm hex adaptors and the street buggy tires on the way :smoke: I have about 10 minute run times with my .21... Sometimes i think it should be about done, and it still has half a tank!!! When i was breaking it in, it had like 2 minute tanks, but I'm happy with the run time now. I bought a half gallon of MHP 30%, so i will see how it does with the 30%... never tried it... might as well!

I have to agree with post 1 in the part that the .12 cvx never ran right. I have dealt with three of them and every one of them ran like poop.

My friends only got a gallon through it before it crapped out.

One I got from another friend never held a tune.

And the last one I got was burned up in less than twenty tanks, 10 of those tanks were mine and I still wasn't impressed with performance. I think O.S. really skimped out on that one.

They guy I sold the last one to burned it up, I mean you could even see a gap between the piston and the sleeve. I was really dissapointed with that motor.

Biggest Problem with the CV and CV-X engines are that box cooling head. I bet if you put a nice CV-R head, or a a higher compression head on there, and it would of ran great. A bunch of my buddies have the CV series and they all run realy well, and they all have a higher compression head on it.

Back to the orginal, the CVRX I think was a attempt for a drop in Maxx engine for the original Maxx (Pro .15). Its a great engine in the GTs. Good choice, good luck with it.

Seems like I saw an RC10GT RTR team+ that came with an 18 in it. Don't think it was an OS but many of the RTR's are dropping in 18's for the added sales pitch/bait scam. They always mention, "its ready for the track" but fail to mention its illegal for ROAR/IFMAR races.

i still got the stock duratrax .18 in mine and i pull wheelies i would like to see what that would do

Actually, the CVRX (.12) was out before the T-Maxx hit the market, by about 9 months or so.

And, I agree with Butter; that box head is garbage - What remains of mine is used for a paperweight. I put the O'Donnell head on it, and it runs like a bat outta heck with it's southern region on fire.

Yeah, but with the CVRX coming out before the Maxx. I know the .12 did, but the .18 version didn't come out until resently. I think it was a GT/Pro .15 Maxx engine. Epic had the same thing. They came out not too long ago, way after the 2.5 Maxx came out, but they had their engine set up to go into an original Maxx, with the rotary carb, side exhaust, and threaded crank, instead of having the Maxx style piliot shaft, and slide carb. They probably had the same idea in mind with the CVRX .18. Because then, low and behold, they came out with the TM and TZ for the 2.5 Maxx and Revo. Pretty good intention with the entire deal. Was pretty smart the way they did it. And that CV block head wasn't even good enough as a paper weight for me. My papers started running funny after I put it on top, and had to go get a better junk head to put on them. :spit:

Does higher nitro percentage in the rc fuel makes the car go faster?
IT DEPENDS TO MUCH NITRO PERCENTAGE WILL REV YOUR CAR TO HIGH AND BLOW THE ENGINE
