It looks nice! You might want to upgrade to LiPos eventually to get better run time and speed.

Besides the plug, it looks really nice. I havent seen tamiya style since 08 or so.

What a cool looking rally car. I kinda want one now!

Why can u get more speed with different batteries? I thuat it was the moter that determined the speed? What king of lipo could i use on it 🤔

Its just like gearing. The motor determines alot but there is another minor factor to value. Lets say a 3500kv brushless. On 7.2 volts (6cell nimh) it spins 25,200 rpm. On a 3s lipo 12.6v, it is 44,100 rpm. The more voltage the more rpm, and usually heat.

Then you have capacity and amps. The more capacity you have the more amps it can supply from what I gather.
I never realised this was an hpi. It can take up to 3s.

The only issue is all batteries are different sizes literally and you need one that fits the demensions of your battery tray. You will also need some sort of high current connector on the esc and battery.

You didn't mention how old your son is, but my opinion is to not worry about the battery at this point. I bet it will be plenty fast with the nimh......and a lot of fun!

It’s a Hobbywing esc. A lot of companies use the design, Arrma does it with their Mega line.

Good lookin' car! Personally I would run it and enjoy it. No need for upgrades unless your unhappy with the performance.

The wee man is 13 but he can drive hes been driven my nitros for years but can't be bothered with all the faf involved lol 😆 ill run it and see how she behaves cheers lads
