i've never used the hot racing clutch but it's gotta be better than the stocker.

You know you will need to use a different flywheel nut or cut a groove in the stock Traxxas nut to use those clutch springs? Any aluminum clutch with individual springs is 10X better than Traxxas's POS clutch.
Here's M2C's clutchnut for an example. You can cut a groove in the stocker or buy his.

What's the point of the groove? When I ran a savage 3 shoe on my revo, I just used the 2.5 flywheel nut and didn't notice any real issues. Is it maybe to keep the shoes from sliding forward and rubbing the bell?

thats what i figured to ..i made some grooves with my dremel , just to make sure the springs stay in place

That's the point. I don't know how you got away without the spring channel Olds!

but I'm not sure if i made them deep enough ....compared to the one in your pic , my groove is not as deep ...might take it back apart and make it a bit deeper ...before i drive it ...i dont want to ruin it on the first run ..lol

The one he sent me years ago was not like the one in the pic. It was literally a Traxxas clutch nut with maybe 1 1/2mm deep groove. You could tell he just chucked it in a lathe and cut a small groove in it. If it catches and holds the springs and there is not too much of an angle on the springs, you'll be fine.

cool..thanks ..

i made it a bit deeper ...springs seem to be holding pretty good ,i made the groove near the center of the nut , springs have a slight angle keeping the shoes pushed against the flywheel ....as soon as the stupid weather gets nice , ill take it for a spin ;)

i tryed some aluminum shoes but they put material on the bell that i counld not get off. iam working on some Teflon shoes.

i just took it out for a spin :D..love the new clutch ..works great ...now , will it last ?? thats the question ..lol..but for 14$ , if it lasts more than a gallon , ill be happy :D

and the new homemade bumper works great to :D..it acts a bit like a wheelie bar ;)
