RC Driving Style
I am taking apart my 2 speed tranny on my Mammoth to replace some gears. I was wondering if anybody has the parts diagram that comes with the kit. I found the owners mamual that comes with the kit but can't find the diagram. This is the 1/8 scale monster truck. Thank's
 
Another question for anybody that has the mammoth. The two big gears in the middle of the car, Where the two speed tranny is. Which one is the 65t and which is the 60t. I'm guessing the bigger on is the 65 t??? This thing is driving me nut's:microwave
 
I'm pretty sure the tranny was the same on both of them?
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Just step back a minute and think about it. All those parts fit in there.

I got the tranny apart, I guess it look's harder than it really is. The tranny in both the truck's is exactly the same:sheep: Now I just gotta wait for the new gear to come in. I forgot how much of a beast this truck was. After sitting there for like 7 month's is started after like 4 pulls and ran through like three tank's strong. I just need to make a little adj. to the 2 speed tranny and then off to the track:party:
 
Dammit, I keep striping diff gears, what's he deal. I replace oneand then the other goes bad and vise versa. I am going to try and replace both at the same time and put some heavier oil in there and see what happens, any suggestions. It's not like I can adjust them either because there is only one way they go in there:eek:
 
Shimming the diffs will help, but shimming the diffs and replacing the two speed with a center diff is an actual fix. Not having a slipper makes for a weak driveline. If it wasn't a diff, it would be your spurs. If it wasn't your spurs, you'd snap an axle.

It will make the top speed less and the hole shot a bit slower, but all in all, less maintenance and ground up gears is better in my book.
 
Thank's foe this info. Where can I get longer screws and where can I get a center diff.

Also if I got a boggy like the XZM xt2 would I have these diff problems

I bought a complete front/rear diff off ebay for $25, then I bought just the spur gear for the diff from hobby people.

Mammoth center diff spur

Doing that gave me an extra set of ring/pinion gears (plus bearings and a diff case) for the front/rear diff and it cost me the same as the center diff new. My center diff is actually my old rear diff.

As for the XT2 having diff issues, I would have to guess you would have less problems due to the fact that it probably has a center diff and not a 2 speed. The XLB buggy (the big one) has the two speed as well, so it would have the same diff issues I'd think.

I know how to take out the two speed tranny and the 60t gear and the 65 t gear. How does this new center diff replace it. Do I need extra parts to put it in there, or should I say are there instructions to do this??? Also both of those center diff gears are 65t. Doesn't one need to be 60t and the ther 65t like the stock setup??

Do I need the center diff and the center diff spur gear?

No you get rid of the 2 speed. putting in a center diff makes it a one speed. It makes it more like a truggy and gives the adjustability of a center diff. It is also easier on parts because diffs can slip unlike the 2 speed which is direct drive.

I know it replaces the two speed with a one speed I just don't get how to do the swap, is it just like a dirrect replacement with the center diff and the center diff spur gear or do I need other parts

Do I need both of these gears or is the center diff spur a replacement gear, nobody know how to do the replacement??
 
Ok i'm gonna forget about doint the center diff because I don't really feel like dealing with it:hmm1: I am just gonna shim it and put the longer screws in, does anybody know where I can get these exact screws
