Ok, I have an Losi LST that I haven't used for a while and recently, I noticed that the wheels do not turn properly. Upon inspection, the wheels turn to the right but only turns halfway to the left. I brought it to a shop and the repair guy told me that because I have stock servos they are too weak and I would need to have them replaced with stronger ones at $85 each. So I told him that it was working fine before and he said that was because it was new and they get weaker over time. WTF is he talking about? Do they really get weaker over time or is he trying to hustle me?

Hello,

Servos either work or don't. They don't get weaker over time. When the gears wear/strip, you'll definitly notice it. Don't know how one can break if it worked last time you used it and hasn't been touched since, but that's not to say it can't happen. Also, at $85 a piece, you can find a nice one and install it yourself (you can get some HiTec basher ones for 85 or so a PAIR that are strong enough to get the job done). Hope that helped.

Yeah, I agree. I think he's full of it! Heck, for $85.00, you can get a high torque digital one!

Sounds to me, though, that either your RX pack may be low or something is binding. I'd check all that before getting a whole new servo.

NSantana is right, if you end up needing a new one. Get yourself a HiTec 645 for like $35.00, drop it in there yourself and go have fun!

The LST came with dual jr650s, which are the same strengh as a 645 (and there are two) I would say that your battery pack is low. If not unhook one servo and try it. I don't like the servo splitter wires on any truck, I prefer using one servo for steering and one for throttle/brake. Just my .02

Did you mess with your end point adjustments on your TX? You may have just limited the throw.

I forgot to mention that I have installed a rechargable battery pack and it was charged for about a few hours prior to use. and yes I do need servos that are compatible to jr radios

Servos are compatible with all RX's, just need to make sure the connectors work (may need to trim them a bit).

A few hours may not have been enough to fully charge the pack and, as Jon2 mentions, may want to check the settings on the TX.

Maybe try charging the pack overnight, just to make sure it has a full charge.

Take out your manual for your radio and look up end point adjustments. You may have adjusted those by mistake.

what do you mean by adjusting the end points? I can only adjust the wheel trim on my controller.

yes it did. but the thing is, it turns to the right perfectly fine, it's the left turns that are f-ed up. if anything was mis-adjusted wouldn't it effect both direction of turns?

No, you can set the endpoint (how far the servo travels) both directions for steering and both directions for throttle and brake.

hmm I dunno all too much about the controller. But I'm about to say screw this guy and go get my truck back

Well... I'd at least start with that!

The guys are right. If you haven't messed with your radio settings, something is binding somewhere. Try taking the servo horns off both servo's and turning the wheels by hand left to right to see if you feel any resistance in either direction.

Read the manual for your radio as well. The XR2 radio's allow you to change a lot of things, but if you goof it up on accident, it's easy to fix... once you read and understand the manual for it.

Ok I just screwed around with the settings on my JR and it helped to a limited extent. First off, the wheel still don't turn fully to the left even with the endpoint set to the max at 125. My truck is still turning more to the right then to the left. I have to set the right end point to 100 and the left end point to 125 for both to be even.

Also I have an issue with the servo trim. When the current value of the steering trim is set to 0, the wheels slightly turn to the right. I have to trim to steering value to 22 in order for my truck to drive straight. Is there anyway to default everything.

Try this take your servo arm off of the servo, and zero in your servos with the radio. Then reconnect the servo arm. It sounds to me that its a setup issue more then anything else.

I agree with everyone that it's most probably a setup issue, especially since it once worked fine the way it sits. Definitely do what vbgagnon suggested about zero-ing out the servo. Take the servo horn off the servo, turn the radio on and center the streering trim and reattach the servo horn while the radio is still on. This will ensure you have it centered and that the servo hasn't turned on you.

Also while you the servo horn off, inspect it and all pieces connected to it. I've seen cracks in servo savers and servo horns that allow them to work fine in one direction but going the other direction will flex the crack open instead of moving the parts connected to it as far as they should.

yes that is another thing to check, make sure where the servo connects to the linkage isnt stripped. wether it be a servo saver or just an arm, te small teeth in it can strip and cause it to slip. take the linkage off and make sure the steering moves freely, check parts for wear, center servo on tx, and put back together.

ok can you elaborate a little bit? What and where exactly is the servo arm and servo horn?

The servo horn ties to the servo. When looking at the servo there is a screw, take that off then take off the arm that was held in place.
