Truck is maybe 3 months old (it's the new RB10 from associated). When I was taking it apart some, it seemed fine when I spun the diffs.
Thats good news. So unless you really gave it a rough run, things shouldn't be worn too badly.
I agree. But I also tortured some of my earlier motors.
The noise sounded bearingish to me. Or like @WickedFog said, somehow got debris inside.
High fidelity is limited to a pair of Samsung's FINEST 1/2" subwoofers! 🤣

I'll tell ya what I would do. Since it is a RTR RC, I never trust the Chinaman who put it together to give a crap. I would grab the exploded views, manual, etc off the internet. Then I'd tear it down to its last screw. Clean and inspect everything, apply the proper lube (especially the diffs), then reaassemble it. I actually love doing that. It's the best part of RC to me.

With my trx-4, I got the kit so I could skip the Chinaman part altogether 🤣

Yeah, good call. RC manufacturers should sell kit versions of every RC they sell.

And get you some nice hex wrenches. The Dynamite ones I have are 10 years old this year, and are still in excellent condition. And they are cheap.

If you don't mind paying a little extra, Protek makes some wicked nice tools.

These will by far be THE MOST USED item in your toolbox. Buy nice ones. They will save you a TON of headaches in this hobby.

A good set of nut drivers will come in handy as well.

I'm actually headed to hobby town, so I'll look around there some... Gonna get some fun stuff!

Well, update on it... I haven't done anything yet... Went to hobby town and I held off on tools... I want to get a quality item. Got some slash tires for 1/2 off, some a-arms (slash), some caster blocks (slash), and a rc4wd 27t motor for the trx-4. No idea if it's good, but we're gonna try! The other loot in the photo is a new esc for trx-4 and a bunch of telemetry for the slash. Got it at the Traxxas store. Haven't gone since they released the sand car, but I'll let you know if we do.

Hobbytown is also Amain. Amain owns Protek. So you should find some really nice tools there. I bought my Dynamite hex drivers at a Hobbytown in Indy 😉

They might try to push MIP drivers on you. Those are supposed to be awesome too.

Man, I was like a kid in a candy store in there. Again, didn't get any tools, but I like those dynamite ones you showed me earlier. Gonna look at those. I've got a whole bunch of telemetry to put in the slash... Waiting to see if my esc is fixable though. I need to shave off the little grooves and mounting holes on the chassis so I can actually put it on with servo tape. Small issue: don't have a power Sander. Any ideas?

Do you have flush cut pliers?

I get as close as I can with my rotary tool and a cuttoff wheel. Then I go back in with a drum sander. Then I hit the area with 220 grit to even it out. Then come back with 400 grit.
