I got a new used rc. It was sold to me as a runner. It is not! O well just another project! I need to get an exhaust but when I looked up for losi xxxnt exhaust, I only found round spring mounted exhausts. The only markings I see are GT on the one side and 15 on the other. Obviously it is a .15 but the gt part is what I'm not familiar with. I Google d .15 gt nitro but only came up with an engine in a heli forum. I know this is prob a nube question, but I know someone has the answer.

It is probably a cheap, unbranded Nitro rc. I dont much but the engine may be a thunder tiger one?
Anyway, it's probably going to cost more to get running than its worth.

We need to see what's stamped on the sides of the block in order to tell what it is. Top views don't do much, especially if the head has been swapped out.
My first guess, judging by what I can see, would be Team Associated.

The one photo shows the casting GT on the non exhaust side. 15 on the exhaust side.

Not sure if this helps but the nut that the pull start turns has a shaft on it you can pull it out. Not like a traditional owb that id ever seen.

The truck is a losi xxx nt. or at least that is what I was told and that was what was listed on the E bay listing. To me they both look real similar. So do you think associated ever just make a engine block that said gt as in rc10GT?

I just looked. The front bulkhead has TLR and the rear battery box has a lid on it that says Losi.

One more thing. The engine s# says g523. But the only thing google came up with was a header pipe..

Other than the orange cooling head (which maybe aftermarket or from some other engine) it looks like a RC10GT .15 engine from assocaited. Does this look about right on the other side if the header was taken off of the engine?

Yes. I was leaning toward that it was a associated. The crank shaft and the casting of 15 looks just like the pic you posted.

I will post pics of it out of the truck and would like some verification if yall don't mind.

Thanks so much! I searched a thousand times "GT .15" and here it is in the title.. I think what I might do is see if I can get it to fire turning it over with my 3/8 impact. if it does, I will prob see is I can match up a pull start.. SH.. Vertec??????? I f it starts good if not the cooling head looked new.

junk the rest??

If the piston and sleeve are worn out and you can't get a decent tune, then yeah, it's time to retire it.
But If it fires up decent and you decide to keep it, it might be worth while buying the ebay engine for parts. The pull start and exhaust header should fit no problems.

Oh I see. The problem with that is the seller only ships within Australia. It acts like it has really good compression. so idk.

what do you need bro ,maybe I can help....
MORE MONEY!!! And your OCTANE!!

Seriously: Nitrotrout found a twin to an engine I have on Ebay. The seller is in Aus. and only ships within Australia. But the engine is a cheapie throw away and would not be worth shipping here. But feel free to ship me your Octane!!!

If you some thing shipped let me know ,an engine usually costs around 20 to ship either way.
At the moment with all the dramas I'm having with the octane you can have the stupid thing, its basically an 1100 dollar boat anchor....
I havent been able to get the thing to fire since sunday and after numerous phone calls and trips to my lhs I've gotten nowhere now they want me to send it to sydney to get it looked at under warranty but the way things happen around here i wont see it back before christmas

Man, I hate to hear that. I have two projects going on now and a t maxx that seems to always need worked on! I really want one, but like anything else, I will wait till everyone else has one! I will look at the engine again, but I prob just replace it with an OS engine I already have..

Yeh mate no worries offer is there if you need it.
I'm finding that hpi support in Australia is sub par ,i can't email them directly only their agent but i guess i dont have to ship it stateside which would cost a bomb lol

@tvjv2009 That would be your best bet, throw a OS in it and be done with it.
Some people insist on salvaging what they have and making it work against all odds but it's usually all for not.
