I bought a used RC18t off of eBay (below are a few pictures) and as the title states this is going to be my first mini rc its coming with a castle creations 8000kv brushless integy front shocks and a rpm bumper. I dont even have it yet (expect delivery around 4-1-09) but it needs to go faster I NEED SUGGESTIONS:banana-mario:

i already knew that part, but that does remind me i need a good 3s lipo and I'm trying to find an inexpensive charger. All of the chargers that i have seen look a little to complicated and I'm not really trying to spend more than 60 dollars for one. Any suggestions on how to beef up the truck itself I like to break stuff but I'm thinkin about turnin over a new leaf here?

They come already very stocky, with the exception of the crappy stock servo. i had mine doing double and triple backflips over a hummer, and never broke anything.

oh ok well what about the drivetrain, from what i hear these brushless moters are pretty strong?

I have an RC18T with a Venom Fireball motor on it...and the damn thing is hard to keep sight of! It friggin FLIES and it's not even a Brushless setup. lol

You probably got more power in that MINI brushless motor, than most big block nitros. lol

Another thing you will probably need to rebuild soon, the Diffs. I recomend the MIP Super Diffs.

Judging by the fact you're asking these questions I can already tell you're in over your head. To make it faster, first convert it to a Car, Truck, or Buggy, see the link in my signature for details. At minimal, get rid of the excess unsprung weight of those tires.

A mamba 6800kv with a 2s lipo is more than enough power for these. Anyone that tells you otherwise must not be trying to control it in any way. You need to fine tune your suspension to keep the power to the ground, which will require a lot of patience which will also include keeping the center of gravity low. I recommend installing the stiffer RPM arms and shock towers in place of the stock parts. Next you'll need to focus on your driveline. MIP Superdiffs with factory team carbide diff balls, factory team center drive shaft, and MIP cvd's will make your driveline durable. Do not for one second think you won't rebuild a diff, because they will need constant attention with that kind of power. Once you see the size of the diff balls you'll understand. Properly tuned gear ratios are key to keeping your motor cool. Also remember, things this small break easy. Hitting a curb will certainly equate to a complete rebuild. Doesn't hurt to pick up a RPM bumper.

My old RC18T with 2s lipo / 6800kv Mamba 25a and all said parts installed on half charge and damp pavement. Sorry this is the only video I had, it was much faster on a fresh charge and dry pavement. I also rebuilt my diffs before selling and it made a huge difference. I could have changed my gearing and easily hit 55-60mph.

i drove it last night for the first time, I am amazed at how fast this goes, F@#$ wheelies this is doin backflips. It walked on my T Maxx like it was nothing

13 tooth pinion and 60 tooth spur which i neglected to say were both stripped before the battery even got warm steel gears are on the way

what battery? Don't blame the plastics. Meshed correctly, the plastic will last forever. Putting on a steel one is just asking for trouble elsewhere.

the battery is a 3s lipo and yeah i know your right about the gear mesh thing, and replacing one plastic gear with one steel gear is asking for trouble, your right again, thats why i plan on installing all steel gears

I have a Rage so don't know much about the RC18t but if it has a brushed motor GO BRUSHLESS! Wouldn't recommend doing it if it's only rear wheel drive - it would
a) eat tyres
b) spin round in circles with the slightest dab of power - did that with my Rage without the front propshafts in. Lots of fun, but slow and it did eat the tyres! :)

Try a servo with metal gears - not plastic ones. I chewed up my stock plastic servo in a week. I eventually bought a SuperTech one (dunno which model though!). It's got more torque than the original, but it's a little larger than most, so I had to cut off various mountings to fit it in (now stuck down with a number plate sticky pad!).

Good Luck!

PS Just remember - if you do upgrade the motor to brushless, PUT AN UPRATED ESC IN! They have a tendency to act up and/or catch fire with the extra power!
PPSS I run a mix of steel & plastic - get them lined up properly and you won't have a problem!

Are you still looking to make it faster? if you are next hop-up would have to be a brushless motor. That thing will fly with a brushless motor and 3s LiPo.

Be careful though if you do that about wrecking the ESC. I would upgrade it - save it catching fire!

The ESC wont catch fire usually, it will just get hot and stop working because it can't take all the power. Then you'll just have to go out and replace it.
