Well I decsided to upgrade my system to an FM system using an Airtronics MX3 TX/RX. I'm trying to install it on my Revo but the connectors are totaly different. So I bought some adaptors to go from the "Z" to the "J" connectors the Revo uses. Once I pluged it up...I heard a pop sound. I'm guessing the receiver is shot. On closer inspection, the adaptors cross the black wire with the red wire on the Revo side of the wiring connctor. So now I'm trying to find me a new receiver that will work with the Revo "J" connectors and want break the bank. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use that is plug/play and will work with thye MX3?. It's a 75mhz FM TX if that helps. The Airtronics RX about 20.00 less than what I paid for the whole TX/RX together in the box and I still wouldn't know how to adapt it to the Revo anyhow.

Thanks
Ray

J connectors. Are those the ones with a small tab on one of the sides?

I use the Novak XXtra synth reciever with the MX3 without any problems. Actually, I get better distance with it than I do with the MX3 receiver in my savage.

Here's a link: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWL88&P=ML

It's about $20 cheaper than the original reciever and it doesn't use crystals.

Sorry to get back so late, It's been a very busiy weekend for me and it's still not over. Anyways, I found a Novak receiver thats pretty cheap but not sure if it will work with my MX3 and Revo.

Does anyone know if that will work ok? It says it uses crystals but not sure where they plug up on it.

Thanks for the help

I don't know, but this one says it's designed to use with airtronics radios:

The one you have a link too says it's for Futaba. I don't know if that's the plugs or if it has something to do with the circuitry.

But, for another $15, I'd get the one I linked too before. It's synth, and you can use all 3 channels. And I know for a fact that it works.

lol that iis funny ... a one year ago 5-12-05 I e-mailed novak about that this is what I wrote.

Hello Team Novak,

They replied with

Hello,

Yes it does. Thanks

So I would have to assume it does.

I'm sure you're right but I would still be right back where I started with those "Z" connectors. I'm really trying to find something that is plug and play with my Revo connectors. That receiver uses the Z's while the Revo uses the J's.

Thanks

Both fit in both... All you have to do is cut that little tab off z's to fit them in a J and the J fits directly in the z's...

My traxxas servo ends fit fine and my JR servo plugged into my airtronics reciever without much effort.

Am I missing something? Or have I never seen a "Z" connector vs a JR connector? I've had JR servo's and Airtronics servo's... I've plugged hitec servo's into both JR and airtronics receivers...

Well call me an idiot...ok you don't really have to do that lol Anyhow, the battery plug on my Revo was just plain to big. So I trimed it up with a ravor and it fits nice. The rest of the plugs work fine as well. I just figured since the first connector I tried didn't work, none of them would. Now everything is pluged up and working well...even after I heard the receiver pop!

Thanks and sorry to be a PITA with my newb self.
