I was into RCNitro cars about 4 years ago. Had a T-maxx 2.5, couple of Ofna buggies, 4tec street car and buncha other little things. I sold everything and put a downpayment on a car.
Needless to say it's a hobby that I miss.
So as I was browsing through my local CL. Someone listed a T-maxx 2.5 and Savage 25 with extras for $400. I called and we settled on $350.
He said he hadn't run them in about 1.5 years and they've been sitting there. It kinda made me not buy them but I took the chance anyways.
Came home with
(1) T-Maxx 2.5
(1) Savage 25
(5) 7.2v batteries
(2) Battery chargers
(4)rechargeable glow plug igniters
(1) Digital temperature monitor
Set of Street tires and wheels for the T-maxx
after run oil new bottle
5 sets of glow plugs
carry case for Savage
misc parts and bodies
Even a gallon of gas that's still good.
The Savage was in EXCELLENT condition and he claimed only 10 tanks through it and I would say thats true because over all, it looks GREAT.
I oiled it and well primed it and it started RIGHT UP.
The T-maxx physically was in pretty good shape, but the engine was stuck and I couldn't spin the crank wheel AT ALL. Thought it was stuck and done for.
Apparently this seller left the fuel in the tank and the engine when he stored them so all the gunk was left after the fuel eveporated. I filled the Tmaxx engine up with Nitro and let it sit for a few minutes. and Boy did all the gunk come out, did this about 4 times and engine was loose and free.
one push of the button and it off and running as well.
So you guys think I did ok at $350 for all the stuff above?
Few questions:
What other steps should I take as far as cleaning the engines go since they been sitting for year and half?
I'm actually very familiar with tuning and consider my self to be decent when it comes to temperature tuning and just ok when it comes to fine tuning.
So I'm back in the game and hopefully will be visiting this forum quiet often.
See you guys/gals around
