Title says it all, I have a lrp motor coming in and wanted to know if anyone has bolted it straight to a LST exhaust, did it fit?? did it run right??

I didnt bother to think about that, was to excited about getting a new motor

thank you

It should fit no problem and perform just fine. Let us know how it runs. Very few people have posted anything on this engine. Botom line is, it's a BB engine. It should bolt up no problem.

I know on my LRP 28 that I had to run a different header gasket with the aftershock header. I want to say the engine came with a gasket and the losi gasket that was on the aftershock didn't fit either. I ended up using a HPI purple gasket.

Oddly enough, the LRP28 in the savage with the savage header made me use the Losi gasket.

I'm pretty sure the losi gasket and the gasket that came on the engine is thicker than the HPI gasket. Which means the losi header is smaller than the HPI header. It may not be "thicker", but I think it was a bit larger outside diameter and wouldn't seat very well.

EDIT:
Forgot, I have a spare LST2 and aftershock header laying here. Took a photo for you. Looks like they are the same, so you may want to pick up a set of HPI header gaskets.

Bottom - LST2

I may have had to trim the inner ring of the gasket out with an exacto knife. I can't recall.

that was really confusing to read when i'm this tired lol..

let us know how this engine runs once you get it..i've been thinking about getting one too..

I understood it....but it must be kinda like when only drunks can understand each other. I am having the same problem with my Sirio .30 and a JP-4 pipe. Sadly no Losi gaskets in this country to try...lol

tell em frickenjoey, there should be a RC store on every corner :)

Ya i will definatly tell you guys how it works out, I'm going to use the aluminum foil trick to break in and make sure its BDC.

as far and the header, if that needs to be replaced thats not to bad, i was realy hoping i wouldnt have to replace the exhaust at this time.

thx for the info, I should be getting the motor installed by my LHS on wednesday, so i think by friday i should have it broken in for the most part

All I can say is that if it's like the LRP28S3, be patient and preheat the engine to 100F prior to starting.

My LRP28 didn't start to perform or run well at all until I had about 500cc's through it. Even then, it was pretty weak. By the time I had 1000cc's through it, it was much better. Now I'm already probably at or just over a gallon and it is just really laying down the power.

+1 Olds...I broke in my last one it was 80 F out and I still had to wrap the head and pre-heat to get it up to 200 while running for the first 4-5 tanks. I normally pre-heat to 200 before first start....then use heat cycle method.

SH engines made by Golden Lion, makes the Dynamite and LRP engines and the Mach 26SS and XTM engines some GS Racing engines..... The thick purple HPI gasket is designed for the larger HPI Savage stock header. I have to use the HPI purple gaskets on round port Picco engines to get a normal size header to seal up to the block.
The stock Losi size gaskets and header should work.
Joey, Siro uses a large diameter header at least on their newer engines I have seen. Your best bet is to buy a Sirio exhaust to match the engine and sell that JP-4. That JP-4 will choke the power right out of that Sirio.

Scrogg...um buddy have you ever used a JP-4? I mean so far it has been one of the best pipes I have ever used. But then again I have never used a Sirio pipe so...who knows. Actually I'd trade that Sirio .30 for a LRP .30 in a heartbeat if I had the chance. Sucker has never seen fuel and not sure if i am even going to put it in my Savage project or put the LRP .28 back in it since it is a known quantity....lol

I should have tomorrow installed, the fella's at my LHS said it should'nt be a problem on the header, I do have another question though
What fuel to run through, my LHS has trinity 20/25/30% and O'Donnel's 20/25%

I used 20% on my mach 26 by trinity

My LRP28 manual suggest 25% nitro at a minimum, so that's all I run in it. Byrons 25%. Which is really byrons 30% and 20% mixed 50/50. My LHS doesn't carry 25% consistently, so I make due with what it does carry.

Yep I have, I don't like it. It's a little too restrictive for my taste.
The JP-3 and 4 are good for .21's. Anything bigger they tend to rob peak h.p. from the engines.

Just got today, and reading the manual it tells me 25% fuel

I unfortunately couldnt buy the fuel today, so I'm going to hold off on tomarrow or the next day pending weather.

tell you what this compression on the pull-start is sick. compared to the mach .26 it blows it out of the water.

can't wait to get it broken in.

Thx again for all your help

Be patient with that puppy. Yes LRPs are super tight when new, make sure you preheat it and loosen the glow plug or you'll be pissed off with blistered up hands and a broken pullstart. Keep us updated, I checked out the specs on the engine. If they are right it will blow away the LRP .28 aswell your Mach .26......pretty much any BB engine out there in it's price range right now.

Lrp .30

Well I have feedback now that its broken in at least about 14 tanks through it.

This thing realy rips, pretty much everything, I had to make some adjustments for my truck not to pull wheelies all the time, its fun at first but hard to control.

Raced my buddys lost eight T 424 i think it is, and we are neck and neck for the time being, havent raced him yet with my trans adjusted as well as my slipper.

my dad has the same truck as me with the mach 26 and we run in he backyard, it almost like a ferrari racing a stock honda, its that much of a difference. Its only going to get better after the 1st gallon has been ran through too.

Hope this helps you guys.
Have a good one

Yeah, if it's anything like the LRP28S3, you will see power increase until you hit about a gallon... then it will stay there for a very long time. Tune also becomes much more steady.

What pipe/plug/fuel are you running with it? Just curious.

lrp .30

I'm running the stock losi pipe at the moment. wanting to upgrade
Plug I'm using mccoys mc-8, just found out i prolly should be using the 9. different LHS opinions
Fuel I'm running Trinity 25%, so far pretty happy with the fuel
