Looking to buy a electric rock crawler/mud bogger?!

I ran my RTR Wraith for the first time today, not bad but not good either! When you order your rig you will want to order an aluminum servo arm and install it before you attemp the fun it! The one included stripped in under two minutes of running on flat ground.

The stock servo uses a 25t horn

I'm using an old 2s Orion 3000 hard case I had laying around. As soon as I get a BEC I have a few 3s pack I'm going to use....I wouldn't recommend 3s on the stock esc unless your prepared to replace it!

The pack you linked is long, if it fits it will be tight. I haven't pulled the battery tray out yet but from what I could tell it will hold 145mm pack and the one you linked says it's 150mm so it might fit.

As mentioned earlier, even in the stock battery tray, a 4000mah pack is tight if using a 3s pack.

Punisher shafts look more scale, but I personally perfer MIP shafts for their proven long term durability on high HP rigs. YMMV

The two speed is nice, but pricey when you add it all up, including shift servo. I love mine, but my Wraith is more of an all around rig now that I have a dedicated crawler. Some guys prefer to bomb proof a single speed for simplicity, and since there are no gear changes and less moving parts, there is no denying it is more durable in the long run. That being said, my two speed isn't going anywhere. :D

I got my wraith from my hobby shop today 349 on sale! waiting for my upgrades and everything else in the mail the only thing I havent ordered are the batteries I'm going to put it up front but don't know if I should get the hard case lipo or not still deciding and I am going to run 2's I don't want to upgrade my electronics yet!

Congrats on the new rig!! How many packs are you looking to buy? The reason I ask is that you can get a great deal on Venom hard case packs (that you can use in other rigs later also, should you choose) on ebay direct from Atomik RC. I bought a 4 pack for just over $100 shipped, and currently have 7 of them. They have a lifetime warranty, and are uni plug so they'll work with any factory ESC plug out there.

2 packs for $57 shipped

Then your gonna have to run 2s. The battery relocation is much more work that it sounds. You need to relocate a lot more than the battery. But the results are worth the amount of work!

how long do those venom batteries last?? I was looking at getting two 5000"mAh" turnigy nanotech 2's with a lipo bag but its 71$ due to shipping 26$ each battery.

I'm gonna say it one more time; those 5000mah packs will not fit, period. They're just too big. I'm happy to measure the stock battery tray for you if you wish, BUT, HK is famous for their pack measurements not being accurate.

As Non Crimen mentioned, you have to relocate the ESC and other things to move the battery. BUT, it's a huge difference in performance, not only for crawling but for everything as the battery mass is more centralized which helps overall handling no matter what you are doing.

As mentioned before, I get around 30-40 mins of a combination of crawling and bashing running an RC4WD two speed / MMP/ Tekin pro4 3300kv combo. A lot of that was in high gear hill climbing and raising you know what. :D

I'm running the MIP splined shafts on my SCX-JK Project. RC4WD was closing them out for 1/2 price, so I couldn't resist.

I wasn't going to put it in the stock tray I was going to move it up front and relocate my electronics I would rather it handle better when I was watching some youtube videos saw a couple that had the 5000mah turnigy in front so I figured it would fit.
The wraith was on sale at rpphobby but he took it down it is still for sale at rcplanet and my hobby shop guy matched the price and he had it in stock! here is the link!

Oh you where talking about the shafts!! well I went with the pair of venom batteries thanks! can't wait till it all arrives.

You can try the 5000mah if you want, I just don't need that kind of weight or run times personally. Also, for all out crawling, I switch to either 1600mah 3s packs, or 2200mah 2s packs to keep weight down low.

Ill take your word for it man I already got the 4000mAh venoms you suggested from your link!! Thanks a lot for all your input can't wait until the batteries and upgrades all get here and can run it.

Got my Wraith, Charger, batteries, lipo bag, still have the servo horn in the mail and the aluminum steering linkage. I ran it today and see what he meant by it was slow I don't mind it at all its fun and crawls over stuff great can't wait until I order some beadlock rims with some crawler tires also the aluminum panels. I did the front battery conversion batteries fit with lots of room!! thanks for all the info everyone it helped out a lot!! Anyone know of some good crawler tires and bead lock Rims?

What's your budget for wheels and tires? You can spend anywhere from $50 to $150 on wheels alone. On the cheap, Axial rockster beadlocks work fairly well; on the high end I'm a huge fan of Gear Head EZ locs's as they are much easier to swap out tires should you choose and they hold like a vise. The scale shop, mayhem engineering, and motoworx racing are also some of my favorites for wheels.

For tires, it's hard to go wrong with Pit Bull Rock Beast II's with Crawler Innovations double deuce 6" foams, medium front, firm rear tuning rings. You can get them for a special combo price here, they perform very well for a scale tire.

The Proline G8 TSL swampers, RC4WD Iroks, and axial R35 compound ripsaws, get lots of praise as well.
