Looking to buy a electric rock crawler/mud bogger?!

I am thinking the RTR that way I can start off with it and go from there upgrade slowly. But need a charger and probably two batteries how long do they last?

To get the best suggestions your going to have to give us a price range on the batteries and charger. IMO spend some money on the charger and you can go cheap on the batteries, the charger will determine how well your batteries hold up. Some options...

Power supply and DC charger, great for fast charging high capacity batteries

DC charger will need 12v power from a battery

AC/DC charger, gets the job done but a little slower

For a basher I like the Nano Tech batteries, they are cheap and tough which is exactly what you want for a rig that will be ran in mud and water. You can find these at hobbyking.com

ok i looked at the batteries and that is a good price, how long can you run on 1 battery? I dont mind buying a better charger if its going to be better in the long run.

A 5000mah 2s(7.4v) will get you more than enough run time! The higher "mah" the longer run time.

1:1 Axial Wraith!

Ok so I have been looking at chargers and batteries and there are so many so could i get some info on what lipo chargers to look into I want to spend about 100$ max if I have to spend a little more thats fine. And for batteries I need to know what ones will get me about 1.5 hrs of play time and will get two of them I am most likely going to get the Turnigy nano-tech lipo but don't know what "mah" to get for that kind of run time! On the axial site the battery tray is 47x150x28mm for the wraith. All info will help thanks guys you have been a lot of help so far!

For your price range, I'd recommend this one. It does everything, it comes with everything included, simple to use.

When you get into higher end chargers you usually end up buying stuff separately such as power supplys, and battery connections.
Besides this model, I also have a Hyperion Super Duo charger. It cost over $400.00 all told, but I like this Venom just as much, maybe more.
Unlike the Venom, I had to buy additional accessories for the Super Duo.

I have had that charger for a couple of years and love it. I paid about $150 NIB and use it for both my ground and aircraft batteries.

Same here. I've got about 4 chargers now, this is my favorite.
I saw one NIB on ebay for $140.00 and some other Venom model selling for $100.00

Hyperion makes some top notch stuff. That looks like a great little kit.

I'm going to go with the venom for the charger will work for all my needs and a good deal since all of you talk good of it thanks for the info!!
Ok so the Axial Wraith,Venom charger,Turnigy nano-tech batteries!!

One thing to keep in mind, if you plan on moving your battery to the front (and you really should, it's a dirt cheap / free mod and there is no situation it doesn't help as it puts that weight just slightly forward) then really large packs aren't going to fit. I run 4000mah 2s and 3s packs and the 3s is a tight squeeze. I get around 40min of a combo of bashing / crawling, and I've never ran one out just crawling and scaling, I'm ready for a break first. :D

We'll most likely I will put the battery up front do you just move the tray or go without a tray if you have any pics that would be great.

I am going to order it all this weekend the Wraith, Charger, Batteries, and a lipo bag... ill post pictures when I get it! Thanks to everyone that had some input in the thread!
