Hi everyone. I’m looking for a good set of shocks with the correct weight oil for my slash. The ones I bought on Amazon , Big bore, were way too stiff. Looking for something softer. Any ideas? Ty

Most shocks you would need to supply your own oil for.

Traxxas GTRs are nice.
Proline power strokes are ultra nice but pricey

Or 13mm shocks from the sc6.4 can do well too. (Or even the 12mm ones from the sc6.2 or losi 22sct)

problem is by the time I find softer springs and spend like 16 bucks on those I’m into it for over 40 and I won’t even know if the springs fit the shocks. Kinda just looking to spend around 30 bucks on a nice aluminum set. Then I would need to know what weight oil to put in. So I’m getting a bit lost.

People have been complaining that since Horizon took them over, they changed the lower seal design and the fluid leaks out 🤷‍♂️

I can verify the STRC shock bodies I got for the XXX are super swanky. Very nicely machined threads, and smooth as buttah.

Well I can tell you this the stock top shock caps on the Slash vxl suuuck. They keep popping off. Maybe I’ll just get aluminum shock caps. But who really knows if it’s the caps or the thread in the shock?

Cimmon problem. Get the aluminum caps.

Alright Proline off my list for good. First it was foam inserts now it's shocks. What else is new with horizon.

Maybe I'll take a peak at those strc ones. 👀

Yea aluminum caps should fix your issue on that.

If you plan on strc in the future get thier caps so it match. Your ocd will thank me. If not, grab the trx caps. Regardless get the trx gold shafts. Tge stock ones bend like butter. 😆

Probably right. Hey anyone ever put some lock tight or Teflon tape around the threads?? Would that work? I only ask because I have so many trucks and I’m not looking to dump anything crazy into the slash yet.
Beefing up my Arrma 4s Kraton and my 6s Typhon

It was just something I saw in reviews on Amain I think. But you know how reviews are. You gotta read between the lines. But I saw two guys mentioning it.

Look at the reviews

Not the reviews I found, but lots of leakage problems.

I do believe that is/was the number one recommended thing to do to the shocks.

All kinds of fancy generic aluminum shocks out there in your price range. Pick which ones has the springs to match your needs. Does the brand offer optional springs/parts for their shocks?

What shocks did you originally get?

Well, then. I must have looked at two dozen sets of "low budget" shocks on the Amazon. After digging deeper into descriptions and specs, there's a lot of misleading information on most of them. Some will state for monster truck, then will list fitment for 2wd lighter weight buggies.... what the heck. Big bore... no mention of what the actual bore is so one just has to guess. That and no spring rate to go off of.

If I was not able to determine a reputable brand with simple specs, or part numbers for the shock components... I think I would pass on them.
