I've been racing my SC6.2 in club racing with some mixed results but I am converting it to a dirt oval mini stock car. I have a few slashes and tons of parts for them so I figured I would build one to keep racing with my buds in 2wd SCT. I also hope some success with this chassis will inspire others to bring their slashes out and/or show that you don't need a $400 race chassis to be competitive and more importantly have fun on the cheap! Currently have a quicrun BL120 ESC and a xerun 3652 4300kv and savox sc-0252mg. Already have the rpm transmission and I have trx heavy duty arms and drive shafts. I'm thinking of trying some old B5 shocks eventually but going to stock with the Traxxas Ultras. Any other mods I should look to invest in? Was thinking of better shock towers but concerned metal ones would be a weak point or cause shock damage from bad landings. I also want to get a better differential as the stock ones don't seal very well and leak into the bearings.

Is this motor still usable? I am not sure how it got this dent but it was running pretty good in the sc6.2 before I yanked all the electronics out.

I'm not judging. Theoretically speaking of course, I've taken a knife to a gunfight a time or two. I'd just like to better understand why you are bailing on the SC6.2 platform and thinking the Slash may be a better choice for the SCT class. If you got great driving skills, there is no reason for a Slash to be totally out of the hunt.

Go get 'em!

I'm not bailing on the sc6.2. my friend is starting a new oval series called mini stock. Check out jpr mini stock on FB. I'm using that chassis to race in that series. I still wanted to race 2wd sct because it's a bit chiller crowd than 4wd sct and well, I've had this slash sitting on the shelf for two years.

For Slash running oval on high bite clay, your best bet is to build a new stock diff with the lightest oil you have. I put Tamiya bearing lube in mine when I was running multiple Slashes on dirt oval. You want that diff to be as active as possible.

What class would the Slash be running in? Rules must be pretty open, yeah? Depending on the class's tire rules, the biggest upgrade you can make on a 2WD Slash for clay oval is a set of Traxxas Kumhos in S1 compound (part # 6870R). They make even the worst set up car hook up like glue.

*Edit...I'm not sure if you're planning to run the Slash on oval or a regular off-road track. I just noticed you mentioned jumping. lol....just ignore me if you're not talking oval.

I've got a bit of slash oval racing under my belt 😆. This is for indoor off-road.

I never said I was good at reading. 😂

I never had good luck with the slash for off road racing but I’ve seen some fast ones so I know they can do it lol.

First race day:

I think I broke three steering knuckles. I ran out and modified a rear hub carrier to work. It got my third! I had power turned down to about 80% and played with the springs I had. These HR springs aren't great but I think I need to go up a little bit in fluid weight or go to two hole pistons. Car was fun but I felt like the other guys had a lot more steering in the sc6.x chassis trucks. I need to throw it on the scales and see where my weight distribution is too. I assume I need to add a little weight to the driver's side.
