I am looking for a WS7II to drop in my savage. Does anyone know where I can get one with a pull start mod.

This is another website that does it:

It's a little odd. Ask or call and they can hook you up.

I don't know if all of the RB pullstart conversions are done the same, but learned something interesting. Like Tex said, you have to send them the crankshaft from a Hyper .21 so they can do the conversion. The Hyper .21 engines are pretty good, don't get me wrong. Doesn't it seem, however, that putting the crank from a bargain engine in a highly developed engine may reduce the overall power from the engine?

I read on the RB boards that someone is making a bump start for the savage. It includes an adapter and everything:

Thanks guys. I've seen that bump starter before and I'm not to crazy about it, just more things that may need repaired at some point.

I posted UE and RCAlloys as conversion sources because I know they do it right. There are less scrupulous outfits out there that will use the Hyper crankshaft.
I have a UE modified C5 and it definitively has the original crank. The modification requires that a hole is drilled in the crank pin. The C5 and the Hyper do not have the same stroke. So the hole needs to be slightly off center. Then you use the one-way bearing, backplate, and pullstart assembly off of a hyper 8-port to finish it off.
If someone offers to do the conversion and asks for a Hyper crankshaft, then I would stay away. The Hyper crank is not only of lesser quality, but also the stroke may not be the same.

What do you think about unlimited? Do you think the use the hyper 8 crank. I haven't ordered one yet but I'm close. The only reason I going with unlimited is (correct me if I'm wrong) they offer the motor and the ps mod already done, I may have to put it together no big deal.I just don't want to have to order a motor then order the hyper 8 parts send it all off and all the bs that goes with that. I'm waiting on an e-mail from unlimited just to see what they have in stock if any at all.

Thanks for the info about the crank Tex I'll look out for that.

I got my C5 from Unlimited Engineering (UE). They modify the original crank. The RB crank has either a serial number or part number (I can't remember which) etched on it. So it would be hard to pull a fast one there. What I received from UE was a complete kit. Including the original backplate. Just in case I wanted to run the engine without the pullstart. All I had to do is put the engine back together. The only gripe I had was that they left metal shavings inside the crank from drilling the hole. Nothing major. Just had to clean it real good.

How are your mods from UE doing? any complaints other than the shavings?
