A savage 25 is nice you should PM SKIP and see about getting some Twisted toys LCG TVP's, they lower the engine tranny and thus lowering the center of gravity

Thanks for the help, but I am already going to be spending $400+ on the car, I dont want to upgrade/replace parts until they break.

I narrowed the choices more open to a savage 25, mgt, or a mgt 4.6. I am leaning towards the mgt 4.6 anyone know the exact date its coming out? or just early september? Thanks

From looking at the other posts:
The MGT is espensive to buy and upgrade.
The revo is a hell of a racer and a hell of a basher.
I have a Savage. It is a hell of a basher. Lot of upgrades. But it won't handle for sh... unless ya want to spend a lot of money on it. :2cents:

from what i understand:

savage - bashing, definately not racing
mgt - half and half
revo - racing, no bashing.

Kind of.

You can race a Savage. You can race it in stock form, but there are better racers out there.

Mgt seems to be suited for both.

Revos CAN be bashed. But they are not the pure basher that the Savage is.

Are you going to race it??? If not,get the Savage. If you plan on racing sometime, any of the 3 are good choices. Many people dont like the Revo b/c it is a small block, and the other 2 are big blocks. I had a TRX2.5 and it ran great. But I love the bigblock power. the smallblock wont drink fuel like the .21 will either.

All this said,I dont think you could go wrong with either of there trucks. If it were my choice, I would do the MGT or Revo...leaning to the MGT.

somethings telling me to get a savage, but I really want a mgt. it just seems like an all around good truck...

ok, two questions:

1.) About how fast does a stock savage 25 rtr go?
2.) Is there any parts on the savage that are stock that break a lot and should be upgraded?

Thanks'

25 RTR does like 34 max or so, and the only weak points on the savage is really the shocks, they sometimes tend to bend, but that rarely happens. But I HIGHLY reccomend the cam-type servo saver as well.

That and the gear mod, putting in 4 instead of 2 spider gears.

ok, well I really want the savage because I hear its tough and all, but in order for it to be tough and suit my needs you guys are saying to:

-4 spider mod $10
-Reverse $30
-Servo for reverse $20
-Better steering servo $20

so I'm looking at $410 for the car, plus another $80 to make it good. wich ends up being about $500. I only have about 440 to spend.

this is why I am leaning towards the mgt 4.6

you dont have to have any of that.. well the 4 spider mod is almost a mandatory but i think all the new kits come with it ether isntalled or included to be installed..
everything else just makes the truck better.. well the 4 spyder mod is almost mandatory but i think the new kitsether come with it installed or included to be installed.. you can drive the truck fine without the other stuff.. there what you call "upgrades"

Need roto start and battery for the rtr. As beason said the 4 spider should be there.
You'll be spending money on upgrades on all the trucks. All of the rtr's have their weakpoints and a better upgrade for it. If ya buy a kit, you build the better of what ya want into it. Have total cost of all upgrades at one time though.
RTR ya drive now, upgrade later. Although any rtr take apart and loctite everything. :2cents:

ok, well I think I have decided to go with the Savage 25 RTR. I was planning on just buying it and not getting reverse being that I dont think it is worth the extra $45 for the reverse and servo. I was told by my lhs that the 4 bevel gears come with the car either installed or included. The ppl at my lhs also said that the stock steering servo is fine, it is just recommended that you loosen the servo saver so that you dont strip the gears (as fast). How does that sound?

nice, not a lot of savages tho... mainly buggies and truggies...

beason's savage is on it. The new savages come with the cam servo saver and the 4 spider mods in the box. So, that's two down.

Beason swears by his reverse, but it's not needed. I don't have reverse on any of my vehicles and I do just fine.

this website should help out a little, it might have already been posted, sorry if it was.

I have a revo and it can bash just as hard as my buddys savage. the engine on the savage is stronger and holds a tune better but my revo is way snappy. i would reccomend either a revo or savage.
