I am looking for a new motor for my savage. I am in the market for a .28 and I was going to go for the diablo .28 but then I saw a few people talking about something called a sh I looked for it and today I found it:

SH 28 specs:
Horsepower 3.6
RPM 28,000 I think

diablo .28 specs :
Horsepower: 2.85
RPM (max): 42,800

Now I am looking for top speed, what one would be better, yes I understand that more RPMs= better but I think I would have to gear up lot( right term?) with the SH to keep my wheels on the ground.
Please post any oppion.

SH has bloated specs. the diablo isnt that great of a quality engine either. the Novarossi/REX/TOP .28 and the RB .28 are the only 2 i would consider. both are top notch quality and the most powerful .28's made, regardless of claimed specs. now if you can afford to wait for a little while, Collari is comming out with a .30 soon that should be just sick.

Stupid question but if the Os V-Spec is the most dynoed horsepower on the market then why bother with a .28 and get it?

torque, the top has gobs of it. i should know, i have a top .28 and a vspec. the vspec is my buggy motor because it has a good drivable powerband with great top end. the Top is my truggy motor because it can twist those big heavy tires like nothing else.

oh and dont forget, the .28 also dynoed in at 3hp, but it has more dyno proven torque than the vspec. remember that HP is a function of torque multiplied by RPM. so a motor that makes the same torque at higher rpm, makes more horsepower.

Also you can't use the V-Spec casue it doesn't have a pullstarter. I'd be damn hard to start it in a savage.

I personally hae a Wasp .28 and it is a very good engine. I recommend it, it has been comptetly reliable for me and has a great low, mid, and high end power. I can't compare it to the Novarossi's and the RBs though.

That Collari sounds like it will be a beast of an engine, rumored to have between 3.2-3.5 HP?!?!? Shopatron has them for $210 preorder, I think I'll wait until the first batch comes out to see how people like them before I take the dive.

Good call sweet Iam getting a savage 4.6 with the new ,28 I wounder how this mill is going to do???And iam I going to have to up grade it??

zandor, i doubt you will have to upgrade that HPI .28 for some time, HPI's higher end motors are actually pretty good quality.

That is a GREAT deal for the Collari, that would be my choice. The new B3 and B7 are getting rave reviews by racers on the sgrid. Bruce at RUSHRC started carring them as well!!!!
