I love it man. Every time I read through one of your builds, I learn something cool. I can't wait to build a Tekno to see if I can implement some of your ideas.
Thanks bigdog! I’m glad it resonates well with a fair amount of folks, and if I can be a ā€œbad influenceā€ on anyone toward the purchase/build of a Tekno for em to have hella fun with-well that’s a huge bonus for sure. As you well know-more to come shortly on this one too..😜

Well, it's diggity danged official, this thread should be mandatory reading for anybody about to start a kit build, no matter what brand of kit!

Some really great tips, and just watching your organization and how you tackle things is extremely valuable. It makes building a kit less daunting when seeing it broken down into bite sized pieces. I know the manual shows most of this, but the Littlemotor school of building is the way to go! šŸ˜ šŸ˜ šŸ˜

Man, I really appreciate the sentiment brotha!! -Yessir; a lot of the way I do things isn’t brand specific, just like you mentioned. For sure translates across many different manufacturers, and there’s still always more than one way to remove skin from a feline, or however that goes? šŸ¤”šŸ˜‚

My intention for sure is to help others get over the initial fear of 25 bags of parts trees, and hardware. ANYONE can do this stuff, and I try to touch on things that I’ve learned work well over the years, as well as point out things that most would overlook, or run into an issue with. šŸ¤™

It’s funny-it’s a running joke regarding my anal retentiveness, and organization, but I didn’t just do this for show lol.. I really do lay my stuff out this way! Not everyone needs to get all straight jacket with it to be successful, but it certainly helps folks see exactly what I’m working with, and definitely helps the photard explanations I feel. šŸ˜Ž

I have OCD... YOUR level of OCD makes my left eye twitch when I read your posts! 🤣
I seriously do have 2 tables covered with cars and parts from 4 different cars!
(They are all Kyosho for now at least!)🤣
My level of chaos on the bench doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the chaos in my head! I just ran out of table space! 🤣
Your builds are fun to watch and full pf pointers and tips that everyone should be applying!
Thanks for taking the time! šŸ‘šŸ˜Ž

Well said!
I just used chatGPT.. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚

Fantastic break down of everything along the way of your truggy build @Littlemotor. :cool:šŸ‘

Shock spring adjustment collars... I know some have used JQ, and Sworkz, but do you, by chance, got the low down of other brands of adjustment collars that will fit Tekno 16mm shocks?

I thank ya buddy!

I am positive that HB Racing do, as Mrs. Littlemotor has Cole Ogden’s for hers to go with her scheme, and I also wanna say Kyosho as well. Not sure about Xray, Caster, Sparko, Agama, WIRC, etc.. Don’t know about Losi, as I won’t even look in Horizon’s general direction anymore. I wish I were more helpful on that, but I don’t wanna talk outta my asss, and have you pay the price..šŸ˜…

Reckon I’ve drug my feet long enough… Time for some ā€œarts and craftsā€ time.. This shiit looks like torn colon without a switch in it, and I dunno why manufacturers bother even having a provision for a 1962 model Radio Shack switch.. They fail like crazy.. Same deal on my nitro truggy, and I ended up finding a random piece of plastic whilst rooting through my ol’ man’s old pitbox from when he used to run 1/8 off-road 20yrs ago now.. I have no idea wtf it was for, but I had a vision, and went with it. Well afterward-I noticed there was a second one exactly like it, so I knew that when I finally got my hands on the nitro buggy; I’d do the exact same for it as well. And I’ve got some of Pops on my garbage FTMFW.. šŸ˜Ž

I’ll admit-I’ve been putting this off, as I REALLY didn’t want to end up screwing it up.. It was a metric TON of work for one little switch plate/cover.. I really dig it though.

No freakin’ idear wtf it was from, let alone; why he had (2) floating around in the pitbox..

Start off with some 80grit on a piece of thin fiberboard over the pit mat..

Just gauging how it’s gonna look, or at least give y’all boys an idea..

I’m doing the side that contacts the radio tray first. I’m taking the entire thing down, slowwwwly, so as to keep it flat.. the side that is presented will be taken down too, but not all the way.. Then I’ll leave a very light crosshatch finish to it with the finer grit paper..

Almost in bidnezz….šŸ˜Ž

I’ll clean this up a bit so the CA has the best possible adhesion, and plenty of surface area on the part..

IMG_8332.webp

Starting on the visible side.. Again-going slowwwwly, so as to keep it consistent, and FLAT.. Very easy to get outta whack with something small, and that you can barely hold onto-let alone; apply even pressure. Lots of checking after every few passes, and changing direction/orientation..

Again-just to show ya what we are doing, and that it’s starting to not look out of place..

IMG_8335.webp

On down to some 240..

I have to admit, ocd can be a NASTY thing to deal with... but when it work WITH us, the results are SO worth the effort and detail. It looks perfect!!!
No one may ever realize the amount of time and effort given to a tiny piece of plastic to make it fit "just right"
We know though. šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘

I like it… Taken it far enough down so as not to be as ā€œchunkyā€ lookin’, and now it’s time to create the desired crosshatch/finish.. You would not BELIEVE how much time I put into something as simple as a daamned block off plate.. šŸ˜…šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø -it’s got some sentimental value though, and I think it looks killer..

Thanks brother!!!! šŸ»šŸ¤˜

Email Tekno and show them pics of your build and tell them to get rid of it.
You’re awesome bro-but they don’t give a damn about me over here lol.. Just another dumb good ā€˜ol boy in NC, going overboard on toy cars.. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤£
