Hi guys, new here and to rc cars. I'm good with hands though... fast reply would be great as this is meant to be a birthday present for my son!
I was given a couple of nitro cars, a subaru impreza with the gx 12 engine is the one I need help with. When I operate throttle the arm is moving the carb as it pulls on it. Car runs but with issues. I can see a single flat head screw that passes through the carb housing, comes out the other end and is bare threaded bar with no nut. If I tighten the screw the carb locks up or loosens more. If I lock it up as soon as I use the throttle, it moves the carb and loosens again. Am I meant to tighten screw till carb is secure then have a nut on this thread? Not sure it would help though as I have got the carb tight and held the screw in place with screwdriver, tried to move the carb and even though the screw hasn't moved, the carb loosens and starts moving around again.
In the pics you can see the flat head screw that tightens up the carb but spins forever if you keep going, other pic shows back of the screw which is just threaded bar with nothing on it. Video shows how bad the movement of the carb is.
Added pic to show the carb type.
As I said I'm new and any help as to how I secure this carb would really be appreciated.
Sorry for the long essay!

So a nut will tighten this and cure the problem? If so that's great, I'll have to try and find a match but thank you very much for the quick reply!

Found a nut, tightened it up but it's the same, even though the screw is now secured, the carb still moves from side to side as the throttle arm and particularly the brake push and pull against it.
Sadly clicking that link you sent does nothing on my phone either. I'll have to see if I can find the link on Google. Need all the help I can get!

Just got the pdf open. I'm thinking maybe it needs to be at TDC or BDC before I can lock the carb in.... does anyone know if I'm right?

Looking at the pdf it has a special screw so to speak. It has a moon shape cut to hug the carb.

Your has a long screw it appears. I'd inspect that part first.
