I just got a phone line at home - whoo hoo hello early 1900's! I have lived out in the north scottsdale AZ desert in a little house (with a big rc track) for 4 years now with just a cell phone. I knew I would never get any sleep with the internet at home so I blew it off. I figured its time and went looking for a high speed service. No luck: They don't bother running cable out to low density neghborhoods, places with 1+ acres per house. That left satelite or microwave broadband, $699 or 399 installation - no thanks. So I got a good ol $13.95 per month phone line and netzero service. Yes it sucks ass but at least I connect at 48k. Its more like wading than surfing...

i have heard that satelite internet sucks iy slow service and you get blocked if you get storms

Not really, the satelite service is not bad at all, yes a storm can take it out, just like the TV. One nice thing is the dedicated line forr it, you dont have anyone else on your "siganal". But its way too much $$$$

SO your telling us that if you get un-willingly ravaged by a drunk Indian squaw you can send out a SOS via e-mail :D

and you can got a wireless keyboard and have the internet on your tv. Correct me if I'm wrong i seen it off a cemercial

I want to see what she looks like!!!

I got cable. It isn't that fast. 412K? not sure. I couldn't imagine going back to phone line. Mine was about 24K. Costs me $5 more for cable.

Don't be stupid Eddy, I'm not going to sos. I rent a uhaul and pick them up with candy bars and Shlitz malt liquor!

Save some money dude!
Just tie the cans to your bumper with a string. Drive just a mile an hour or so faster then they can run. They will be 1 minute behind you when you get home. They may be a bit worn out and sweaty but what the hell, look at the money you saved.

Dude, who's your cable provider. Their ripping ya off. My cable is over 5MBs.

The only bad thing with sat other than the slower than cable or dsl speeds is the lag. You can't really do any on-line gaming with it.

Now about this squaw?????

with satellite the signal is fed from your pc>satellite>michigan center>satellite>your pc.

it works ina triangle design. its only $59 a month but cost $599 to install. i live in the mojave desert area and can't get cable only satellite. even the verizon building is down the block.

it sucks having dial up after having cable for years were i was able to d/l movies, live concerts, watch broadcast and whatever i wanted to share live concerts. now i have to snail mail everything the mail man is faster at getting me live shows than dial up is.
