Saw some stuff on Reddit and, if it’s true, I’m not a fan of the solution they came up with.

I missed this somehow.

The multi-color filament option does not interest me in the least. But I would love to be able to use dissolvable filament. So dual nozzles with a simple lever to swap gears from driving one filament to drive the other would be plenty good enough for me. But these crazy Chinamen designing these things try to make things way too complicated, and they waste more filament than they use in the part just to clear the nozzle. Just create a nozzle that has multiple ports and tips. No more need to purge, and color changes can be done in the blink of an eye. It's been done successfully before, many years ago. Darned idiots gotta recreate the wheel. I did this on a single color machine faster than what the multi-color machines could have.

Update on the slowest build project ever:

I really wanted a wheel styled like the Black Rhino Armory popular in the 1:1 Bronco and Toyota scenes. The only RC option is RC4WDs version in an ugly brown color. These Amazon specials are very close in style. I may try to find some center caps for them to scale them out a bit.

Next, I have to grind down the Vanquish wheel hexes to allow the chinesium wheel hubs to properly seat on the axles. Then I have to mount up the tires and send this thing for a rip!

Will the vanquish hubs line up on the wheel bolt pattern?

Got all my radio settings dialed. Wheels are dialed. Taking her for a test run in the AM to see how dialed she is. I’m so excited to be finished with this thing. It turned out amazing in my opinion.

That is the most awesomest 3d printed RC man!

Spent the day off testing the kit out at the local crawl spot. The VRD is one hell of a capable rig! Point and shoot over anything in its way.

I told myself I was going to take it easy because it was very cold last night and most of the day (below freezing) and I didn’t want to hurt the printed parts. 5 minutes after hitting the rocks, the truck was barrel rolling down the comp lines. It took the abuse just fine! The PETG held up perfectly well.

I was expecting the magnetic doors and hood to be a nuisance while crawling. I figured they would be flapping all over the place…they were never once an issue.

The weight of the body is definitely noticeable on steep vertical climbs…but I mean really steep climbs. Honestly, I think the truck would perform well in a comp with some minor tuning here and there.

Knowing how much time, blood, sweat and tears I put into this truck made it 150% satisfying to I leave the rocks after 2 hours with zero issues.

I’ll have a vid to share soon!

where did you get the file for the hood?
Join the owners group on Facebook and you get access to purchase special files. The Rubicon hood is one of them.

The group name is Team iJ.

If you didn't notice in the pictures, the tires like to slip the bead on the Amazon wheels I'm running. It's been driving me crazy every outing...

Well, LGRP had a sale on their new 1.9 wheels over the weekend (Buy a pair, get a pair half off) and I couldn't resist. I've been eyeing these since they were announced. I had a set of LGRP wheels on my TRX4-M and they were super nice so I have high expectations for these.

I have a set of raw machined Innov8 G400s with black rings on the way!

Very nice!

But my hands hurt just looking at all those screw holes.... o_O
that's where a good electric driver comes in. let it do 90% of the work, then hand tighten the rest of the way
