Has anyone else ever actually noticed how Jenny's does business? Due to a very specific build i want to do, i have been sourcing parts from Jenny's RC because, I am going to build a truck, basically from scratch, instead of buying yet another used roller (that way, it is exactly how i want it built), so, i started by sourcing literally every part separately from Jenny's (yes, i know, sometimes people think i am nuts, but i actually really like building them this way), and that is when i noticed that, some parts will show as out of stock on their actual site, but, show as in stock, with higher pricing, and ridiculous shipping costs, on their eBay page. For example, i went looking for the front bulkhead and steering parts, which show as out of stock on their site, but are normally $10.97, but, the exact same part shows as in stock on their eBay page for $12.09, and almost $6 shipping, so, what i did, just to see what would happen, is put every part i needed in the cart on eBay, and the exact same parts (some i had to get from other models, but are the same part), and, on eBay, the cost for the parts before shipping and tax came to more than the cost, including shipping and tax, on their site. Now, i dont have an issue with them charging more on their eBay page, but, why show something in stock on eBay, and show the exact same part as out of stock on their own site?

Sounds like they're managing inventory manually. The increased price on ebay makes sense because ebay takes more than 10% cut, they're probably making less money on their ebay sales than through their website.

The "ridiculous" shipping cost is because they have to build it into the cost of every item with the assumption that someone might buy just that 1 thing, AND ebay counts that as part of the "sale price" it takes a cut from, so again, that's why it would cost more than their website shipping.

Doesn't really seem like deceptive practice to me. I take issue with a certain hobby retailer, "Active Powersports", that claims to have hard-to-find things in stock, then once payment has processed, emails you that it's backordered and may take a few months. It appears they place a bulk order a few times a year, and just roll all their outstanding orders into it, which could still could be worthwhile if there's no other way to get that part, it'd just be better if they were up front about how they do it.

I agree...sounds like they need to figure out how to properly manage their business inventory. They 100% are not making more money by selling on eBay for $2.00 higher with higher shipping.

There are other kit breakers on ebay cheaper than jennys.

That's why on the website if you select to be notified when it's out of stock, it is usually back in stock very quickly. He is Johnny on the spot with that typically. If you have any trouble, you can also contact him and ask when something might be back in stock.

As far as inventory, possibly on eBay they list per the part number and while they list by the kit on the website.

For example, if you're looking for a Kraton pivot ball hub assembly but it shows out of stock on the website, you can hop over to the outcast and it could show in stock but at a different price even though they are the same part number. They seem to operate off of supply and demand. You're best bet is to use the search bar to find your part, then you can compare the prices amongst all the models that part comes on.

They don't stock per part number but per vehicle rather.

And as the others have stated about eBay's fee, it makes sense that the prices would be higher on eBay. My sellers fee on ebay is 13% so you can imagine my frustration when I sell an RC for $500 and only walk away with $435

Jenny's has done a lot for the hobby, great service and better prices than most places. Ebay wants it's pound of flesh, it's just the cost of doing business. Nothing nefarious going on here.

With eBay, the thing is, and I think it was mentioned somewhere above, they take out too much on the sale. Idk about businesses/sellers but with me selling old rc stuff I don't use on there, they take out some money on the money you receive. For example I was selling a old radio for 180 bucks and after all the dumb fees it was only 150 that I was going to receive. You get the point.

With Jenny's RC, I only used them twice so far. 1st order was to get a 272R transmission for cheaper than Traxxas retail price at the time (which was insane but they brought it down so its fair now) and a set of ultra shocks. I plan to use Jenny's RC to finish my Typhon build as parts are pretty cheap and affordable on there. (Kinda in the same boat as @biggman100 for my Typhon build)

If Jenny's opens up their model availability I would shop with them more. Example: selling losi mini parts, or any kit brand such as associated for example.

My issue isn't the higher price they charge on eBay. My issue is that, something will show as out of stock on their website, but, the exact same item, listed exactly the same way, shows as in stock on eBay.

Can't answer the stock portion of that but the higher charge is probably to put towards eBay fees that eBay takes out after selling a item. That's why personally I don't like to sell on eBay anymore.

I only figured it out because I plan on building another Slash 4x4, from scratch, so I have been sourcing prices for parts for it, and I always start with Jenny's website and eBay store first.

They probably keep their inventory separate for ebay so they can control it better. They don't want to accidentally list something they don't have in stock. It's a lot harder keeping track when you sell on multiple platforms.

True
I learned that the hard way. Tried to sell something on multiple platforms. Super hard to update the listing from platform to the other if needed 😐

I am sure once an item is listed on ebay it is removed from inventory on the website, or it was never added to the site inventory to begin with. It would be best to keep those two inventory's separate.

It would be a nightmare to have to constantly update the site inventory manually because you sold something on ebay. And vice-versa, ending an ebay listing manually because you sold the item on your website would be a pain.
